300tdi Defender 110 - Another knocking noise question

Just checked and I'm able to feel air pulsing out the back of the engine :( Now to order a new HG. I'll look for some tutorials on the site. Thanks for the help!

300tdi Defender 110 - Another knocking noise question

I was afraid it might be the HG...would I be able to feel any air coming out between the header and block?

300tdi Defender 110 - Another knocking noise question

My 300tdi starting making a knocking noise after driving it for about 1 minute. As it warmed up, the noise got louder and more distinct. It's a compression sound, definitely not metallic even though it's hard to tell in the video. Any ideas?

    Fried Engine Harness

Everything is connected. Is this correct? Positive battery lead, engine fuse box cable, and cable to alternator are all connected to the starter solenoid. I also added another ground strap from the starter bolt to the chassis. The negative battery lead is also new and is grounded to the...

    Fried Engine Harness

Does this cable from the engine fuse box connect to the battery or the starter solenoid?

    Fried Engine Harness

The positive cable from the engine fuse box (with maxi fuses) was connected to the starter solenoid. Is that correct or should the fuse box cable connect directly to the battery?

    Fried Engine Harness

The positive cable was on the solenoid and I removed it after the meltdown. The black cable shown at the bottom of the starter picture goes to the engine bay fuse box and it was connected to the solenoid as well. The battery negative cable is grounded to the transfer case.

    Fried Engine Harness

I have a 1995 Defender 110 (RHD) with 300tdi and I swapped the original 65A alternator for a 100A disco alternator about two months ago. There were no issues until one morning while warming the truck up for work, I noticed the B+ wire had come loose on the alternator while it was running. I was...

    Sheared lower bolt on alternator

threaded. I have all the sizes of Irwin removers and they stopped gripping it...just kept going round and round.

    Sheared lower bolt on alternator

I was completing a routine alternator swap on my '95 Defender 110 when the lower mounting bolt sheared off. I've tried multiple methods from vice grips to welding a nut on the stump and none have worked. Before I remove the entire mounting bracket to try and drill it out, I thought I'd check...

    R380 stripped filler plug

I've tried the chisel and hammer quite a bit but the plug won't move...it just deforms the soft metal which is evident in the picture. I have all day tomorrow to keep trying though!

    R380 stripped filler plug

I'm glad I didn't drain it as well! That was another piece of valuable advice that I picked up from this forum!

    R380 stripped filler plug

You guys are awesome and I appreciate the recommendations! I have a plug from an LT77 ready to go once I get this bastard out. I have literally tried everything in my tools inventory with no luck so I'll probably take it to the garage on Monday and have them weld a bolt to it. I've spent two...

    R380 stripped filler plug

I've had my 1995 Defender 110 (300tdi) for about 9 months and realized I should probably check the gearbox oil. However, the T55 plug was extremely tight and I have stripped it (in quite an impressive manner). I have tried bolt extractors as well as a punch to pound it counter-clockwise with...

    Wanted Defender 110 door hinge

That's why I'm looking for a used OEM hinge...guess I should have said that in the initial post! I'll update it

    Wanted Defender 110 door hinge

Looking for a driver side back door OEM hinge (lower one) for my 1995 Defender 110. Does anyone happen to have one they would sell? The non-OEM hinges are cheap enough but quality doesn't cut it. If no one has a used OEM, I'll buy a new one but wanted to check first. Thanks! OZ
