    109 drop plate

Just to follow this up I got the military drop plate and it does fit. Someones enlarged two of the holes in the past but they do line up. Now just need to figure out where to mount some support brackets onto the chassis.

    109 drop plate

I sent the picture to paddocks and they say I should need the military drop plate but the holes don’t quite match what I have. Not sure what it had on in the past but I think I’ll just try the military drop plate and adjust it to fit.

    109 drop plate

It looks like I need a military one then. I think I’ll go with a non adjusting one as it sounds like it will be more work and as mentioned above will probably rarely need adjusting.

    109 drop plate

This is the full crossmember. A quick google hints that it is a military one as it is rectangular rather than the bottom edge sweeping upwards towards the ends.

    109 drop plate

It was on that chassis when I got it so I don’t know unfortunately.

    109 drop plate

Thanks for your help. That makes sense now. I have started looking at the normal drop plate but not sure if I need a normal one or military one. The holes I have are in the picture below. It’s an ex military vehicle but I think I need the normal drop plate?

S3 2.25 petrol front crank seal

Thanks for the help all. Don’t know how soon I’ll get started but I’ll let you know how it goes.

S3 2.25 petrol front crank seal

My front crank seal in my S3 2.25 petrol is leaking. Do I need any more parts other than the rubber seal itself to change? I haven't found much info online. All I keep finding is threads about the rear seal. Thanks.

    109 drop plate

My 109 doesn't have a drop plate. I think I will need an extended one due to the height of the crossmember. I found this one below bit it looks like the mounting point as in the middle, so half of the drop plate will go above the crossmember and block the tailgate...

    Series 3 speedo cable

I almost ordered that but seems they are still having issues so I avoided.

    Series 3 speedo cable

Thanks for the advice everyone. Dad fitted it while I was out. He took it off the gearbox and and lined it up to the speedo better. The inner was trying to go into the speedo head at an angle stopping the connector going on all the way.

    Series 3 speedo cable

The Britpart cable inner part appeared to be too short. You’d drive a bit and then it comes out of one of the ends. The cables have different clip designs so I can’t swap the clip over.

    Gear lever gaiters

Thanks for the advice. I’ve got some universal ones I’ll make to fit. It’s slow enough without having a stiff gaiter holding the handbrake on. :)

    Series 3 speedo cable

Hi everyone, I’m having issues with getting my speedo cable to work. The one on the car when I got it was snapped so I replaced this with a Britpart one. I refitted this multiple times as it would disconnect from the gearbox/speedo after about 10 yards. I’ve given up with the Britpart cable and...

    Gear lever gaiters

I was looking at purchasing new gaiters for the levers and handbrake in my Series 3. However apparently the Britpart rubber ones are far too stiff and split quite quickly. Are there any better alternatives?

    Zenith 36IV screws

Thanks that is very helpful. I can only find them under the part numbers from John Craddocks who I would rather avoid currently. Some other places have one set of screws but not the others. Think I'll just have to try M6 for now.

    Zenith 36IV screws

I’ve taken a picture. It’s the ones on the corners I’ve pointed arrows at. You can see someone attempted to use mismatched bolts in place of the missing screws but one of these doesn’t seem to be the correct thread and you can see the fuel leaking out.

    Zenith 36IV screws

I think so. You’ll have to excuse me. I’m not familiar with carbs so don’t know what all the parts are called. It’s the four screws that you remove to take the top off I’m talking about.

    Zenith 36IV screws

I have a Zenith 36IV carburettor in my Series 3. When I got it some of the screws holding the castings together were missing. I am having problems with it leaking from the gasket, I’m assuming due to the missing screws. Does anyone know what size and thread these are? The ones I have are...

    109 hardtop gap

In that case we’ve fitted it wrong. It was put on flat as that’s what the old one looked like. Looks like it’s all got to come off again. Thanks for your help.
