My 2003 defender td5 has become really "tappy", only when the throttle is applied. On over run/idle it sounds sweet- very quiet, as soon as the throttle is pressed (tinyest amount) it taps. I have changed the injector seals/washer s but no difference! its becoming really annoying hear it most at...
cheers for the replies guys- i will check the switch isnt in too far! Its the easiest one to check! Any pointers on checking for a short in the wiring?
Bit of a problem- reverselight is stuck on all the time! Have changed the reverse light switch- but hasnt made any difference, so for now i have removed the bulb!
Does anyone have any suggestions as to why this might be happening?

had exact same thing two weeks ago- clutch hit the floor- it was the clutch arm that had gone- the slave cylinder rod had pushed through the arm- did the job of changing clutch and arm in just over a day on our 300tdi- bit of a pain but straightforward enough really! let me know if you want any...
cant help with the problem however i have a simialr issue- mine wont self cancel thus staying on! I think there is some sort of switch within the indicator stalk but im sure someone will be along shortly to reveal all!
Changed the gearbox oil in the defender (300tdi) last night- put in the proper mtf94, what a difference judging by the colour of what came out it had been in a while, but the change is now super smooth! i would reccomend it!!
No wasnt difficult- i used the lr4x4 guide which is spot on. Just take your time, the hardest bit is getting the crank pulley off- i used a puller which worked well. as i said just take your time and follow the destructions!
