It has already been decided that the nozzles will be replaced. Before we can do that we need to clean what will be reused and measure these components to make sure they are still within tolerance. There has been a lot of talk in all this about 'pop' or 'crack' testing to ensure that the needle...

ok steady on..im not disputing that or anything wammers said. just hang on..I'll prove what im on about. It is simpler than you think. if you replace certain things. and nobody said anything about cheap poorly calibrated pop testers. Not the sort of kit I use. This is getting ahead of what I'm...

hang in there...these are a bit different. and yes. your right injectors do need to be shimmed correctly for crack pressure, this i do not dispute. but I am not giving away the ending yet! Right coffee in my cup!

Right, so here we go! I wont go over why I am doing this, I think that's clear enough and the pics speak for themselves. Suffice it to say that I felt the need to change my nozzles in my 1997 Range Rover DSE with 119,121 miles. I wanted to go all technical and reference everything right down to...

wammers Ty for your input. As it turns out, in this case, shimming is 90% of the time unnecessary when replacing the nozzle assembly in this type of injector. Please read the rest of my posting today and I will explain with science! :)(sorry forgot to click insert quote so had to name you in edit)

some of the best mechanics and engineers I have worked with have never had a formal education. school can only teach you to read a book. experience teaches you to fix machines! That said, I am grateful for all this, I just bought myself a pop tester. will be here by next week and I wont be...

    p38 diesel injectors

First of all, I am ASE certified, not a dyi mechanic so less of it. Unless that time I spent at college 25 years ago was all a dream. and second, I am sending them off to be pop tested. I am just looking for a base setting for the spring tension before I send them off. I also intend to match the...

I called the guy back and asked what the tor_ue seting was and he gave me a 'I think 60 nm should be fine' answer. Obviously that isn't good enough! The wrong tor_ue setting will result in incorrect needle operation and could make the injector useless. So I have called Bosch UK who were happy to...

ANYWAY......lol there shouldn't be an issue..I'm cleaning a precision piece of equipment in a machine designed to clean precision equipment. As long as I change the fluids before cleaning a far more precise machine, like a watch lets say, there is no issue. :P So the results are in, I can clean...

lmao guys. she's mine hands off :P btw....there is a piece missing in my exploded view. the heat shield is a separate component from the nozzle retainer. I just found it after running the injector through one of my ultra sonic cleaners. I'll show a pic later. (of the heat shield...don't get...
