Here only 60 odd miles from west Africa, no welfare state here so only a few genuine life threatened migrants come here. Wages crap, as said about 1200 € a month. Housing big shortage, now shot up to 700€ a month one bed apartment ! Road tax 30 € a year, diesel 1€ a litre garage labour rates 30€...

    Phoebes fixed !

Hi Htr, no idea, there was no fluid at all in my mount. Recon it had leaked out or evaporated years ago. But I recon it was black originally as there were traces of black goo inside unless they were just bits of worn out rubber.

Freelander 1 Pulling to the Left

Guess it wouldn't affect a tough off road designed vehicle, but did happen to me in the past when I kissed a kurb, it actually moved the steering wheel an inch or two out of centre. Friends garage just adjusted the tracking and said I hadn't bent anything ( old rover sd 1 )

Freelander 1 Pulling to the Left

Could have hit pothole or kerb and knocked tracking out slightly, before you spend money I'd first swap the two front wheels, if I still does it have the tracking checked.

What have you done to your Freelander today

It would worry me why they wouldn't add a new wof less it's really expensive over there ? I would expect a uk dealer to issue a new mot at point of sale.

What have you done to your Freelander today

Lol sorry Grumpy couldn't resist, how about choosing the best you can afford and maybe have it transported to your home ? If you trust say the dealer/seller over the phone as you know all the car's faults you may strike lucky. I know buying blind has huge risks but so does driving 400k on a...

Freelander 1 Newbie fed up with garages ripping me off

Ahh the good old day's when I used the supplied scissor jack, removed a wheel then pushed it under the car then crawled around underneath. Mind you was a lot braver and thinner then ! Don't do this at home !

    Stiff gears Freelander 1.8

Is the hydraulic system expensive freelance ? Got a feeling mines going. Hard to select gear especially when changing down. Pump pedal twice goes in easy. No probs usually when changing up.

    Stiff gears Freelander 1.8

Probably the complete hydraulic system which I believe can only be replaced as a single unit IE master, slave and all pipework as one. Could be just where the slave pushes on the clutch, not as daunting as it sounds. I'm sure if I'm wrong the learned one's will answer shortly.

    Phoebes fixed !

Yes very worrying, but I'm in Lanzarote so guess the rules don't apply here. I could easily have had a nasty accident but luckily nothing happened. I understand your new MOT law would have examined the discs and pads and I would have been issued with a dangerous instant failure so at least your...

Above, deadly disc, below shocking shock which has absolutely no hydraulic resistance at all.
