    1997 4.0 Disco I loose the coil trigger output on 2 coils , I am thinking bad ecm also , starts up runs great then the 2 trigger signal s go away , this is the Gems also , I got a ecm from eBay same problem , do I need to have the ECM flashed, ? Please help if you can

    Ok this is the deal, my son has worked at Land Rover in sales for 8 years, The service department informed me that my 1997 Land Rover discovery Ecm that I replaced does not have to be flashed / reprogrammed . When I replace my Ecm it was because I would loose the trigger signal on 2 coils only ...

    Found a bad solder joint on my ecm re solder and give it a try, its going to my output haven traced it to confirm out put to coil trigger

    From what I understand the crank sensor is the only input signal that effect s the coil trigger and the camshaft sensor triggers the injectors which are working fine , it runs great on a start up firing on all 8 cylinders then loses the coil trigger on 2 coils then is running on 4 cylinders...

    The Ecm I replace , I have always had the same issue, with both, I will test my trigger signal with it disconnected from a coil with my oscilloscope and see if their is a current load problem and and also scope my crank sensor and see if I am losing a pulse

    I have the same problem no one knows a answer yet , 1997 Land Rover discovery 4.0 , disco starts 1st time runs great then all at once it looses the coil trigger signal to 2 coils , then is running on 4 cylinders and running like crap , new crank sensor new ecm same as all ways coil trigger goes away

    Good thought Mark , haven't tried to disconnect 1 of the 2 while it's running and read the signal , try it tomorrow
