    Thanks all.. really useful! Will sort out the air filter. Any other suggestions for more consistency on turbo kicking in? Shorten the rod for more boost?! And is there a certain type of exhaust to fit this engine when in a series 3?

    Series 3 - is this an afternarket turbo?

    I bought my 1973 series 3 SWB diesel a couple of months ago and havent been able to work out what engine it has! I'm pretty new to all this! I've attached some photos and would be really grateful if anyone had any ideas. My guess is that it's the original 2.25 diesel with an aftermarket turbo...
