Just sat in the Disco without the engine running and noticed ( for the first time) that I can move the wheel about 20 degrees in both directions. When I start the car it tightens up - is this normal? Had the car a year and never noticed this lol

Yes, it smells like oil - doesn't smell of diesel or at least not strongly. I don't have the best sense of smell unfortunately.

If you have an air compressor then invest in a descaler - an attachment to an air chisel. It has 19 vibrating steel rods and will remove all the underseal, rust and scale and you will quickly see what the real problem is. It will also help a welder determine how much work is really needed.

So I noticed that my oil level is slowly rising - not dramatic yet but over 1000 miles it rose about 5mm on the dipstick. So I am going to replace the injector seals but does anyone know where to buy the correct injector removal tool or a copy?

Actually I just realised that it is wrong (bum) - if you think about it, the normal movement of the propshaft is clockwise (looking from behind) to drive the wheels forward and so the thicker part of the doughnut is being pulled and the thinner part is pulled when reversing - so yes, I'm going...

I did think that - but the handbrake was applied so the propshaft was locked and the differential flange of course cannot move - so there was only one way for the coupling to fit. But it didn't quite match the diagram.

Removed the old one which was a GKN and it was quite perished - not sure if it was perished enough to cause the problem but worth changing and I'll be doing some motorway driving on Wednesday to test. I could only get a Bearmach coupling and it didn't have any marks...
