P38, '97, manual diesel DSE suspension fault

So, decided to wait until I could get some decent axle stands, 3 tonne rated each, that will do lol! Crawled around underneath, checking air lines, the compressor, the air tank... bit confused about what there are multiple lines running off the compressor, colour coded, but only one running out...

P38, '97, manual diesel DSE suspension fault

Ah, actually I think I bought some form of EAS software do-hicky and a cable from someone on here when I first got the Tank, have to dig it out I guess.

P38, '97, manual diesel DSE suspension fault

No good, my towbar IS a swan neck. Havent got anything to read or clear faults, guess I'll have to pay someone else for that.

P38, '97, manual diesel DSE suspension fault

So, driving home, and the suspension button on dash lights up, "EAS fault" comes on dash. Nose goes up, tail goes down, lower on drivers side. I nurse it home, and park up. Drivers rear is definitely lower than the other side. So, it's an air fault of some kind, maybe a bag has gone? First...

P38 '97 2.5 DSE Manual diesel fuel issue maybe?

Well, turns out it wasn't the fuel pump,, was a bugger of a job, however I am glad I did it as one of the metal elbows just above the fuel pump housing was badly corroded. Turns out its the crankshaft sensor, does anyone know which is the correct one, baring in mind the one that came off is the...

P38 '97 2.5 DSE Manual diesel fuel issue maybe?

New plugs installed recently (sub 1000 miles), it starts if you use easy start in the air intake, but stops when you stop spraying. Touching the fuel lines near the tank, no indication (vibration) of anything working. The clear fuel line from the filter towards the engine has large air bubbles...

P38 '97 2.5 DSE Manual diesel fuel issue maybe?

I'll check the pump first, if I am lucky and its not that I'll head for the pipes.

P38 '97 2.5 DSE Manual diesel fuel issue maybe?

Yeah, that's my preferred option too, not keen on cutting up a perfectly good vehicle lol. I'll check to see if the pump is... well, pumping first, if it is, then the leak-off pipes are the next candidate for blame. Any tips on how to if I do have to drop the tank... baring in mind its going to...

P38 '97 2.5 DSE Manual diesel fuel issue maybe?

That's a good idea, thanks... would you drop the tank, or cut the floor?

P38 '97 2.5 DSE Manual diesel fuel issue maybe?

Ok, so, if I read that correctly, I should take the fuel line off, put a bottle of some kind over the end, and then turn the ignition until the glow plugs come on, when I should get fuel pumping, and if I don't, then the pump is FUBAR. If that's the case, do I drop the tank, or cut the floor...

P38 '97 2.5 DSE Manual diesel fuel issue maybe?

I know I must have around 25 to 30 litres in it unfortunately, just hoping it isn't that.

P38 '97 2.5 DSE Manual diesel fuel issue maybe?

So, as I thought, mine doesn't have a manual primer pump, so no use looking any more for that lol. Still wary about the "easy start" option, so I will pop the fuel line off and turn it over, see if the pump is actually pumping, if not, then I guess that's the culprit... so, next question, if it...

P38 '97 2.5 DSE Manual diesel fuel issue maybe?

Its been sat a while, earth strap off as I haven't pinned down my battery drain. Popped the earth back on, jumped in, turned the key... cranking... cranking... and eventually I give up. It did this before, cranked for a while and then started rather lumpily before fully firing up. Swapped out...

P38 '97 2.5 DSE manual glow plug change

WD40 is about the only help I've got for stuck plugs lol. Copper grease is a good call, I'll pick some up before I start.

P38 '97 2.5 DSE manual glow plug change

So, I'm changing the glow plugs. Its an aluminium inlet manifold, and that has to come off to make doing the plugs easier, so I got new gaskets. Seeing as I'm in this vicinity, I've also been advised to take the opportunity to change the leak-off hoses, and I got a length of fuel hose to do...

    P38, '97 2.5 DSE.

New problem... window in drivers door recently started dropping a little, but suddenly now its dropped a lot and the electric motor doesn't work, I have to stop, get out, and wrestle it back up into place. Before I get the door card off and start poking around, any ideas as to what it could be?

    P38 '97 2.5 DSE Manual diesel

Someone on another forum has mentioned the pollen filters, this could be it (crossed fingers) as the water may be running down the wires under the LH footwell kick panel and corroding the plugs that feed the LH door (electrical fault). How can I seal them?

    P38 '97 2.5 DSE Manual diesel

Yes.... its me.... again! Whilst hunting for an electrical fault in the wires in the LH footwell (problems with the LH door electrics), I found some fluid in the channel that the wires are run in. At first, given that my rear windscreen squirter has stopped squirting, I thought maybe the pipe...

    P38, feeling smug!

How prophetic lol! The fix was short-lived, the battery still goes flat. On removing inner trim I also now find that I have water leaking (possibly from my rear washer that's stopped spraying water) into the LH wiring channel. I also thought I'd found the fault with the LH door electrics, plug...

P38 '97 2.5 manual diesel DSE BECM fault

I'm hoping it isn't the BECM, although someone who deals with them says if it is he can test it, and if necessary "clone" it (or a card within it?), reset the sleep mode and send it back and it should be fine. I'll get the readings next time I can take it for a run to charge the battery enough...
