    Doobreydog, Many thanks for the advice, I have located the leak, it is coming from the thermostat, looks like it is leking where the stat connects to the water pump pipe and is probably just the O-ring, but Landrover only supply the thermostat complete with seals, ah well, at least I dan set...

    small heat exchanger thing, water pipes and oil feed in and out, I assume this cools the oil, perhaps you can tell me if not?

    the water seems to be coming from the sump gasket area front right hand side, where the oil cooler bolts on.

    No, the water is coming from very low down, there is plenty of it. It does not leak until the engine gets warm and there is pressure in the system.

    no, its not the air con, I am losing about 1 litre a day from the coolant system. I have checked all the hoses and can see nothing. I have removed the sump guard and water seems to be seeping from around the sump gasket area, drivers side, but nothing is going into the oil and no oil leaks...
