    Battery draining

Forgot to mention that the Isolation switch was rubbish and don't think is intended for repeated use as the "L" shaped red key for it rides over a plastic cam profile when you turn the key on. This will wear out easily which will then you won't get a good solid contact inside the switch and will...

    Voltage Indicator

Guys, Can't thank you enough for all your replies and lots of good ideas, cheers. I can't use the central Panel as already have a pair of switches there for Fog lights and Roof Bar light. Mick mentioned the Mud Pod. Looked up for it in the net and seems quite a neat idea especially that it uses...

    Voltage Indicator

Hi folks, After a lot of problem recently with my alternator resulting in the battery not charging, I am thinking of cutting a rectangular hole somewhere in the dashboard and putting in one of these voltmeter indicator in so to monitor the charging of the battery. These are fairly cheap on the...

    Battery draining

Many thanks Steve. Good news is that the ebay seller is sending me a brand new replacement alternator which should arrive in a couple of days time and am optimistic that once I put the new one on I will see that magic 14.4V number. The fault finding files will also be very handy for future issue...

    Battery draining

Thank you Steve for your reply. The battery is relatively new and I have a digital charger that check the state of health of the battery also shows the % charge so I am confident is not the battery. Alternator is brand new from BEARMARCH (AMR4249), so I am confident that that is fine too...

    Battery draining

Hello folks, I am coming across a weird electrical problem and really appreciate any advice or if someone have come across this before. I changed the battery to a new one last year and has been working fine. A few months later I added a set of fog light and a roof light bar with their own...

Defender instrumentation panel and rear wiper switch wiring

Thank you for your reply. That is a shame about your wiper motor especially that it was the new part and meant to fix your problem. I didn't change my one last year when I had a go at it. It was just routine maintainance and cleaning. The bottom member of the rear door frame was all rotten so...

Defender instrumentation panel and rear wiper switch wiring

Thank you very much for taking time and replying. Appreciate it. It seems that the next course of action for me is to take the motor off the rear door just to ensure it is not jamming. I revenated the back door and the trim panel and the motor only last year so will be surprised if the fault is...

Defender instrumentation panel and rear wiper switch wiring

The black relay with the tie wrap around it is for my light bar and have added myself. The three small relays at the bottom right hand side are for ignition, head light and the rear window heater but I don't know what is the red relay at the top left hand corner. There is also another big relays...

Defender instrumentation panel and rear wiper switch wiring

Now my question and would really appreciate any advice. Does anyone know where is the relay for the rear wiper please? I had to add two rectangular holes to the central panel between the cigarette lighter and the rear wiper switch to house two on/off switches for my recent addition to the Landy...

Hello folks. I haven't been here for a while as busy doing various bits on the Landy so thought to share a few photos also ask for some advice. Diff box selector sticking

Thanks For that Flossie. This is the first time ever that I have opened this part of the Landy. I was displeased to see so much dirt and mock as seen on the photos, so cleaned everything before putting the covering back. Also as could be seen in the photo it has a number of bolts and nut ( and...

    Diff box selector sticking

Just to conclude this post for the time being: I was concerned that if we get bad weather or heavy snow in Jan/Feb then I will potentially need to have low gears or diff lock available, so eventhough it is not the best of times now to work on the Landy in the open air, though to have a go at it...

    Diff box selector sticking

Many thanks again Ray for great advice and heads up. The Landy drives okay just now so you are right there is no urgency to do it just now, plus all the tools are bloody freezing to touch if you are working in the open, so might fiddle about with taking the Tunnel off but leave fixing the "C"...
