I'm on my third new stat now, the last one was opening when testing in a pan of water, but when put back on the car it started leaking from the seam so i brought the third one.

I need to make somthing up, might try and break up the old stat whilst it's in the housing then use the empty housing.

Yeah thats working everything in the cooling system is new apart from the heater matrix but have also flushed that to check for a good flow.

Thanks Grrrrr I've done that a few times but she keeps forcing the coolant out the top of expansion tank. I done a compression test yesterday all cylinders were ok. I'm gonna take it out for a drive in a bit to see how she behaves.
