But if it meant you could disengage the rear wheels surely it would reduce wear to the VCU. Also would it not mean that by running in 2 wheel there would be a slight saving on petrol. I'd need convincing that, apart from the cost, it would not be a great solution.

I agree with you but for the average motorist it might not be so clear cut. I doubt I will buy another car but I think just from the petrol cost advantage I would look at going petrol. If they hammer diesel in some way such as petrol pump extortionate prices it would deter me and a few others.

I just wish we had gone down the "lean burn" route decades ago. By now we would almost be running on air.

Now that's a point. I suppose they meant the diesel engine. Also I thought diesel fuel was so refined these days that it was almost petrol.

It is one of the reasons I like motors that are higher as they usually come with superb clearance. Having said that being high up is not dependent on ground clearance. I like clearance and height. I just fitted an exhaust rear muffler to my Paj today and got to it by just getting under it. Also...

This is exactly why I always consider the backspace or offset. I hate spacers, I'd get some other rims IMHO. I like Kumhos and those look like they have a lot of tread. What size rubber are the rims shod with?
