Freelander 1 Freelander 2000 Kalahari 3 door diesel TD4 automatic red SOLD

Not a lot TBH. I want to cover my VCU cost. I really don't know what it is worth.

Freelander 1 Freelander 2000 Kalahari 3 door diesel TD4 automatic red SOLD

Sadly the time has come to part with my X reg 2000 Freelander . I am not sure what she is worth though I spent a few hundred recently on the VCU. She has lots of service history and has been regularly serviced. I personally think she is in nice condition in Alveston red and the interior is...

Alternative to the fluid coupling (VCU)

But if it meant you could disengage the rear wheels surely it would reduce wear to the VCU. Also would it not mean that by running in 2 wheel there would be a slight saving on petrol. I'd need convincing that, apart from the cost, it would not be a great solution.

    Is diesel dead

I agree with you but for the average motorist it might not be so clear cut. I doubt I will buy another car but I think just from the petrol cost advantage I would look at going petrol. If they hammer diesel in some way such as petrol pump extortionate prices it would deter me and a few others.

    Is diesel dead

I just wish we had gone down the "lean burn" route decades ago. By now we would almost be running on air.

    Is diesel dead

Now that's a point. I suppose they meant the diesel engine. Also I thought diesel fuel was so refined these days that it was almost petrol.

    Is diesel dead

Been reading a lot about this in the press. I must admit when diesel is more costly I wonder about the reasons for having diesel. My reason for having diesel was more to do with longevity especially in 4x4s where the vehicle can last for years. Second was the better economy but if pump price...

Now that is the stance every FL should have............lovely. Perfect for kerbs and car parks.

Freelander 1 Rear boot door not opening. Low voltage?

I like the Kalahari since I saw one in yellow with the back off and targa off so the rear window is a "quirk" I would put up with but if they did not make the Kalahari I doubt I'd get an FL.

It is one of the reasons I like motors that are higher as they usually come with superb clearance. Having said that being high up is not dependent on ground clearance. I like clearance and height. I just fitted an exhaust rear muffler to my Paj today and got to it by just getting under it. Also...

Freelander 1 Rear boot door not opening. Low voltage?

I am not sure I like the FL system that drops the window to enable opening the door. I'm glad you got it sorted.

    Freelander Project IV (Bertie)

For some reason I have not been having notifications of this thread. You have been working hard. I personally think the FL needs to be lifted because I like motors which are high. Not for off-road reasons though. Sometimes a body lift (where possible) would do for me. I don't know I can...

    freelander 1 sump guard

I was in the same boat; I had the do I don't I dilemma so I modified mine to make it very fast to remove, easy to access some crucial parts and yet retain some protection such as high flying kerbs. Also as you can see mine had been "holed" by a previous owner or garage so I decided to cut it...

This is exactly why I always consider the backspace or offset. I hate spacers, I'd get some other rims IMHO. I like Kumhos and those look like they have a lot of tread. What size rubber are the rims shod with?

    Freelander Project IV (Bertie)

Absolutely essential kit if you are into anything bodywork. I got mine from Aldi in their once a year turn up. I saw Ed China using one about three years ago and had to have one then it turned up in Aldi many months later. One of the attachments is like a tanks track laying drive :D:D and I last...
