    50 Shades Of Green

You can always paint the eyebrow arches later... I painted mine and was pleased with the new look... a lot of prep to rub down the dimples on the surface, but once done they give the vehicle a much more updated look... I hope the weather improves for you, its been cold for painting.. and damp.

TD5 rear crankshaft seal or rear sump gasket leak

I have an oil leak that's slowly getting worse. Its showing on the 2 lower bellhousing to engine/sump bolts. looks, feels and smells like engine oil and not gearbox or diesel fuel. The rear camshaft seal is also dry. There bellhousing looks dry above the bolts. Can't see any other leak around...

Where do you buy your spares??

Like most comments already, aftermarket is a mixed bag, mostly pretty poor. I always start search for OEM parts, then move downhill from there if I'm skint. Engine parts I've found turners to be comparative to other places and have confidence in what they are selling.

    50 Shades Of Green

Nice job... I painted mine a couple of years ago, ford stealth grey, with black roof.. satin finish. used cellulose as easy for home job... sprayed it using an apollo 1500 3stage HVLP. I didn't spend enough time prepping but overall came our ok.. also never got round to cutting the paint after...

Just for info - R380 gearbox issue solved with ATF

Not sure then, thought LR advise MTF94... ATF is usually for auto boxes as its more of a hydraulic fluid. The good news is my gearbox seems to prefer the ATF.. so happy days:)

Just for info - R380 gearbox issue solved with ATF

I noticed loads of threads on R380 gearbox oil. I have a replacement gearbox from ashcroft, fitted a couple of years back, and done less than 1000 miles on it. Was poor when changing down to 3rd gear at low revs, I.e. coming up to a junction, just would not go in, but didn't crunch gears. With...

Defender TD5 replacement steering wheel options

Quick update.. so finally fitted mountney M range steering wheel got off ebay, and taper boss KK810XS. From rimmer brothers. Turns out mountney dont do a slimline boss so the steering wheel is around 30-40mm closer to you when driving but the smaller diameter makes a massive difference to...

Defender TD5 replacement steering wheel options

.. too late now.. o_O 70 quid all in so I guess it's not too expensive an error if I have change to a slimline one if it's a squeeze to fit between the steering wheel and seat

Defender TD5 replacement steering wheel options

I'm after a bit of advice. My steering wheel, typeB 48 spline. Is in poor shape, the foam around the rim rotates on the steel core.. I intend to replace with a smaller diameter 340mm to gain a little more knee room mainly. I cant afford a momo brand and ideally want to spend less than £150...

    Defender fuel filter enclosure

Hi I've seen the gore housing / manifold very nice quality.. I think I may not be explaining myself well.. it's not the filters piping manifold / head... im thinking about an enclosure to replace the metal cover that goes over the filter assembly.... could do an ABS or steel enclosure.... fully...

    Defender fuel filter enclosure

Yup the td5 does have NRV... I've actually got a replacement already, but I will defo look into this for future... From feedback so far, replacing the metal cover and mount plate with a lovely smart ABS enclosure is not going down to well...

    Defender fuel filter enclosure

Having cleared away all mud and rubbish encased on my chassis mounted fuel filter I found the metal cover hanging off and the filter manifold rotted... I'm debating on having some ABS plastic enclosures made with seals to replace it... I'm wondering what people's views are... am I trying to fix...
