Kevlar compound brake shoes (as seen on Wheeler Dealers)

Haha. Good use of "" emoji! I never looked at the possibility of being rear ended as being a luxury...

Kevlar compound brake shoes (as seen on Wheeler Dealers)

Yeah I have a servo and the brakes are still very casual. As this is my first old Land Rover it's difficult to know if there is an issue or if I am just being a bit precious. When I first got it the brakes were scary and I spoke to other people and they said "yeah, that is just old land...

Kevlar compound brake shoes (as seen on Wheeler Dealers)

Had a call back from Industrial Friction, a nice chap called Michael who seemed to know his stuff about brakes, and he said that a Kevlar comound wasn't the way to go as it is very expensive and way above what you would need. Apparently, kevlar is exceeds everything else at high temperature but...

Thanks for those. I have dropped them both an email for now and will post the reply if I get one. Will ring next week if they haven't got back to me...

Kevlar compound brake shoes (as seen on Wheeler Dealers)

Thanks Thor1950, that sounds perfect. Will search for brake specialists instead of the shoes as they come... I imagine if I speak to enough of them someone will be able to, or know someone who is.

Kevlar compound brake shoes (as seen on Wheeler Dealers)

Cheers. I had a shot at sending Mike (off WD) a message through his website but I very much doubt he'll respond unless the people he used have paid to have their stuff featured in the show so he passes me on to them.

Kevlar compound brake shoes (as seen on Wheeler Dealers)

Hmmm, interesting... That would make it a lot cheaper. The material is around as there are tons of sellers for brake pads, just none for shoes

Kevlar compound brake shoes (as seen on Wheeler Dealers)

Yeah, I think you might be right. The best I could find was someone who custom makes brake shoes for classic racing cars. I didn't bother getting a quote from him because I imagine it is more than I want to spend. Good point about stresses. Will investigate if I can find the shoes. I am not...

Kevlar compound brake shoes (as seen on Wheeler Dealers)

Hi all, I was watching Wheeler Dealers the other day (car restoration show for those who haven't seen it) and they put some kevlar compound brake shoes a classic car as an alternative to doing a disk brake conversion. Apparently the friction is much higher so you stop way better than tradional...

Series 3 2.25 Diesel engine won't prime after fuel filter change

Hi there, Really hoping a resident landy expert might be able to help before i pull the rest of my hair out. I have a 1984 Series 3 2.25 diesel. We were doing the servicing on it and everything was going well, the engine was running really well until we changed the fuel filter. This killed it...

Diesel 2.5 Series 3 - 2 issues the same fault??

Thanks 300bhp/ton, Sorry, that was pretty vague (and inaccurate). - The car is a 1983 model - The engine is a 2.25, you are right. - The choke isn't actually a choke (not sure why I called it that). I meant to say hand throttle (for revs when using the PTO). I put that up 5 notches and the car...

Diesel 2.5 Series 3 - 2 issues the same fault??

Hi there, I was wondering if anyone could help. I have a couple issues with the engine on my 1983 diesel 88 and I was wondering if they are both seperate issues or could it just be one issue that is causing both the symptoms. The symptoms are: - Engine doesn't idle when started (or very...
