P38A I think I’ve broken my XYZ switch!?

I threw a photo up on one of the Facebook groups I’m on and I’ve been advised that part of the inner wheel has been broken off!? Not sure how as Nothing fell out but I guess that accounts for all of the little tiny bits inside that I mistook for aluminium corrosion. I’ve ordered a second hand...

What did you do with your Range Rover today

It took a bit of fiddling to know what gear it was in but I’ve since been told the wheel on the inside is broken so I’ve just ordered a second hand one.

Thought I’d fixed my xyz switch, made it worse

P38A I think I’ve broken my XYZ switch!?

So my 1995 P38 auto 4.0 would take notions going from P to D/R etc where it wouldn’t know what gear it was in and generate a gearbox fault. Cycling the gears and then a restart would always clear it but I figured I’d try and fix it today to tick one more job off the list. Pulled the switch out...

Air leak detection - EAS woes!

I’ll try that over the weekend if I get my hvac problems sorted. My heads fried looking at both issues, I think it’s just testing me. Failing that a bench test would be good but no one local to me will touch it. In fairness I wouldn’t either. 😂

Air leak detection - EAS woes!

Thanks, It was your suggestion that made me look at the NRVs but they look ok to me, beyond a visual inspection how do you tie a leak to a bad NRV in the case of NRV1? I am losing air through the exhaust port, *I think*, after putting a balloon on it and seeing a slight inflation in it over an...

Air leak detection - EAS woes!

Does the system not shutoff the pathway to the air dryer when the system is off? When there’s no power I thought each element was isolated, my battery is disconnected at present and it’s still doing it

Air leak detection - EAS woes!

I wondered that but I ran a new piece of 6mm hose from the air tank up to the valve block with the same result. If it’s reservoir related then I think it’s got to be the tank itself.

Air leak detection - EAS woes!

I’ve got spares and I’ve ordered a shut off valve but what I might do is get it up to pressure and then fire it into the bath, will wait for the missus and kids to go out for that one. I had a look at them and they seemed ok, nothing obvious to me seemed wrong.

Air leak detection - EAS woes!

Not that I can see, the block is in great shape as are the various bits and pieces. The last time the block was apart I cleaned the whole thing so I’d hopefully have spotted something. I’m wondering if that’s a possibility. I took the whole tank back to bare metal a while ago and covered it in...

Air leak detection - EAS woes!

It’s been a week or two since I’ve been at this (HEVAC problems too) but I was wondering about the NRV and diaphragm in the exhaust so to try and rule them out I had the valve block out last night and replaced the diaphragm valve again with one from LandyAir since their valve comes with the...

Air leak detection - EAS woes!

That’s good to know, thanks. On the original problem the balloon I fitted to the exhaust silencer has some air in it, nothing huge but more than when it went on so there’s a leak in the valve block, just just to work out what 🤷🏻‍♂️

Air leak detection - EAS woes!

I’m not sure what your referring to there, is that inside one of the silver plungers under one of the black solenoids? If so, which would possibly be to blame, looking at the diagrams and advice on here surely both the inlet and exhaust would have to fail to see this problem? I’m also not seeing...

Air leak detection - EAS woes!

Just while I’m waiting on some 8mm hose I pulled these NRVs from the spare block I have. Of the three valves in it only one looks to have a decent cone on it (b). Of the three, which do you think is useable as I’m going to check my valves over the weekend and might use one of these?

Air leak detection - EAS woes!

That’s very good of you to offer but I’ve a spare block here I can swap bits out of as needed. As for the pump, I’ve a few spares ones but only the one fitted is working properly. I think I’ll try a rebuild kit for one of the spares before spending a few hundred on another pump but I’ll bare you...

Air leak detection - EAS woes!

On one of the three non return valves? I thought the fines were just there to help the rubber seal seat correctly. The valve block I have is a replacement so I’ve no idea if it’s a high mileage one or not.

Air leak detection - EAS woes!

Yeah I understand it will lose a bit of pressure but surely the tank shouldn’t empty itself overnight? I’m not seeing any drop in height, or nothing noticeable, it’s a loss of tank pressure I’m seeing.

Air leak detection - EAS woes!

I was doing this again this afternoon but can’t find anything. I’m thinking it must be a leak at the valve block but it’s either on the underside where I can’t see when it’s all in place or else it’s internal somewhere which is where I thought I had a good idea with the UV dye but it seems not...

Air leak detection - EAS woes!

Sorry for the confusion, I’m either not explaining it well or I’ve fitted it incorrectly. I’ve attached a photo. You can see line 6 with a T piece running to the tank, the upright connector runs to my gauge. When I pulled the right pipe that runs to the tank and replaced it with the cap to block...
