    Intermittent Traction Control Kicking-In

So here's an update which might help others with a similar issue. First, I removed and cleaned the ABS sensors on both rear wheels. This improved things but didn't fix it - sometimes the 3 Amigos would stay off for the whole journey, but sometimes I'd feel the TCS kicking in soon after...

    Intermittent Traction Control Kicking-In

Thanks Nodge68 - that all makes sense. I'll get my local 4x4 specialist on the case.

    Intermittent Traction Control Kicking-In

I have a strange and intermittent issue on my 2005 FL1 TD4. This is what happens... The traction control and/or the ABS will operate on one of the rear wheels on a random basis. I think this is usually the left-hand rear. When it happens, it's usually immediately after exiting a right-hand...

    Clutch pedal knock/click

No problem, although it's strange that no one else appears to have had this happen. Have I discovered a totally new FL1 challenge to ownership ;)?

    Clutch pedal knock/click

OK, problem located and fixed. The retaining clip on the end of the spindle had worked loose (not sure how but the wife was the last person to drive the car so I'll blame her). I've pushed this back on and it clicked into place so all now appears to be well.

    Clutch pedal knock/click

My 2005 TD4 FL1 has developed a knock / click when depressing the clutch pedal. It can be felt as well as heard. The noise disappears if the pedal is pushed to the left but re-appears when pushed to the right. And it tends to happen only when the pedal is allowed to return to the fully up...

Freelander 1 Central locking - NS Door not Unlocking

    Perfect, thanks, :) I'll take a look.

Freelander 1 Central locking - NS Door not Unlocking

Thanks Andy, I suspected it might be that. Is it an easy job ? I couldn't see anything in the door that looked like a solenoid. I'm guessing it's well hidden, like most things Freelandery.

Freelander 1 Central locking - NS Door not Unlocking

My 2005 3 door has developed a fault on the passenger door lock:- It will lock but not unlock on the central locking. I've removed the inner door panel and taken a look inside but there's nothing obvious that could be causing this. Any ideas ? Thanks

    Freelander 1 Smokey Engine Heater

Thanks Nodge68. I did wonder if there was a fix for the smoke rather than disconnecting it completely. I guess the next question is - how do I clean the combustion chamber ?

    Freelander 1 Smokey Engine Heater

Now the colder weather has returned I've started to notice an established 'feature' of my 2005 TD4 which I'd forgotten about all about during our long hot summer. And that's the amount of smoke that comes out of the diesel-fueled engine-heater exhaust after a short run. I was filling up with...

    Muffled "thump" from transmission

I've started to notice my 05 Freelander TD4 makes a muffled "thump" when getting back on the power. This occurs when accelerating after an up-shift or when coming back on the power in a gear. You feel it more than hear it and I'd say it's coming from the rear. I'm guessing it's a worn...

Freelander 1 Rear Window Regulator Replacement - How to Do It

I just wanted to say 'Thanks' to ZDomZ for this posting:- https://www.landyzone.co.uk/land-rover/how-to-tailgate-window-regulator-repair-replacement.246939/ It all worked perfectly. The only problem I encountered (or stoopid error ?!?! ) was trying to reset the calibration with the door...

Turbo Hose Kits - which to buy

My turbo hoses are starting to look tired and leaky so I've been looking at replacement kits on the interweb. But I'm amazed at the wide range of prices. Lots of the cheaper options seem to be from China but then I guess so is lots of stuff you'd get from a main dealer these days. Do you have...

Tailgate lock and window playing up !

OK, so my WD40 fix didn't fix it. So I took off the door liner and removed the door handle to find one return spring was broken. The larger part of the broken spring was still attached to the handle so I guess this was flapping around and getting in the way. That's why sometimes the door...

Tailgate lock and window playing up !

There are two screws holding the light in. Simply remove these, the light drops down, then you can spray WD40 onto the components inside the door handle.

Tailgate lock and window playing up !

Thanks for all the suggestions. I've just removed the number plate light and sprayed the electrics inside the handle with a good dose of WD40. It's working fine at the moment so time will tell if that's all it needed.

Tailgate lock and window playing up !

Hi All My otherwise very reliable 2005 TDi Freelander has decided to give me the runaround when it comes to opening the rear tailgate. Sometimes the window doesn't drop and the latch won't release, then I walk away and come back to it and all is fine again. Then sometimes when driving along the...

    Freelander 1 What's this part ??

Hi All Does anyone recognise this part ? It was lying on the drive behind my Freelander. It has a maker's stamp and part number - faurecia 9581359680 . I've googled the details and faurecia make car parts but the number doesn't bring up anything. I can't see anything missing off mine so it...
