Freelander 1 Anyone investigated 'clicking' starter solenoid - design problem??

It is DEFINITELY nothing to do with the IMMO circuit as I said. And you know very well that I am referring to the CCU /ECU control output. Dont be a cock !

Freelander 1 Anyone investigated 'clicking' starter solenoid - design problem??

It IS NOT the CCU / ECU - it is a fault in the wiring on YOUR car. It is NOT a design problem. Take it to an auto electrician or someone who at least has a clue at fault finding - unfortunately you do not appear to.

Hi Kris, where did they fit on the reversing lights ? Might be wrong thread ...:D They would look attractive though

Hello Sebastien With reference to the Jatco box / parts, I would recommend that you speak to these guys first http://www.ashcroft-transmissions.co.uk/contact-us.html They are VERY well respected. I would hope they can sell you just the parts required. If you are interested in a used auto...

    FL1 TD4 2.0L Clutch Pedal Part

Sounds dodgy to me - sorry - why the new flywheel ? Brun - also why the pedal switch - // there are very very very few places that can diagnose a complete set of issues such as you describe. It sounds like a set of John Wayne types covering their bases and ass. - I might try another place first...

    Freelander 1 Brake pads

wot ? - you mean after 3 kids you got rid of her ! Sound thinking dude... :D A for squealing brakes - usually a bit of copper-slip or brake grease on the shim or pad slider is all it needs - squealing is 99% of the time NOT due to pad type.

Hi Nodge, :) SL is not a 3rd world country lol :) - far from it. I am sure their diesel as as good if not better than the UK. Also, a #non# starting td4 does not a good transmission make. - possibly - but not probably. I do agree though that IF it was for silly money (cheap) then hell - yeah ...

Freelander 1 - location of R217 reverse relay

Hi Brian - I 'think' it is located behind the R/H side rear inner plastic panel. (drivers side UK)This panel is held on by turn buckle type t shaped jobbies, the back door seal and back sill panel (6 torx), the right had rear door seal and a single slide button. - you can basically remove all...

Hello Mike mate, Just to confirm - his IS a td4 ? yes ? I know he said he was looking at td4's ..... If it was an L then obviously the belt is enclosed... so I presume it definitely IS td4... ?

Freelander 1 Rear drum brake reset

I think he has done that Mike - the cable bit is interesting - check under the console Rob and see if the cables are balanced - they should be. Also check the cable runs. It would be unusual for one cable to be stretched considerably further than the other - the adjuster 'taking up' does not...

Freelander 1 1.8 - Possible fuel pump issue, extreme bodge-up wiring under seat mats

Hi Sam, As for the battery - when the guy connected the jump leads did it turn over normally (but not start) ? (this is important) - failure not to turn over normally with jump leads could be down to poor battery connections / or grounding - not likely to be starter motor as it usually does not...

Morning Mike Is he looking for S/H or new /recon ? Also - what is he classing as transmission ? IRD - (unit or repair kit) - shafts, VCU and bearings and rear diff and mounts - or is he also talking drive shafts front and rear and actual gear box itself I know a guy who can get all the parts s/h...

What have you done to your Freelander today

You need an Eberspacher really - hot air ducted - not via liquid. FAR FAR better solution - often available cheaply from commercial units. Used to use them on our Yacht. Nice bit of kit - diesel fired - simple to use. thermostatically controlled. Water units are so - errr so --- poor - in...

What have you done to your Freelander today

Yay - got a new 12 month IPO (MOT) - had a slight trauma yesterday as the high level brake light was N/F - so was the R/H/S reversing light. - Oooh I though - bulbs - no such luck - both wiring - yet simple solutions ONCE the R/H rear side cover was removed (PITA !) The rev light was the...

    Freelander 1 Postage cost

I live in the EU, the postage prices are the same (or should be as far as NI is concerned) - 9 quid is a good price. What I tend to do is find out the max weight of the items at that price and order other things I need in the same parcel. Win Win. :)

Alternative to the fluid coupling (VCU)

I agree that this is mostly the case. It is simply a 'pie in the sky' - ill thought out and totally ridiculous 'solution' to a problem that simply does not exist. The OP and designer obviously (to me at least) - had A. little if any knowledge of how a VCU works, and B. Had a non correctly...

    Freelander Project IV (Bertie)

No Worries Rob, Hope it is of use. For info, the Bosch 2.5 bar absolute sensor in the spreadsheet is exactly the same output curve as the L series as well. ! So fully interchangeable. I use the output voltage scale to drive my boost OLED gauge.

    rear brakes diagram needed

:) Now you just need a Lynx (possibly a hawkeye can do it also) - and you can bleed the system single handed using the abs pump and the diagnostic unit. It has a built in program to do it. The wonders of modern technology :D As for heaters in cars in the 60's - most had them (they were no...

    Freelander Project IV (Bertie)

Are you talking absolute or relative nodge. ? perhaps you need more coffee - early mornings etc. lol :):p There is no way it can be set as standard at 28 psi relative ! WAYYYY too high (the sensor cannot even read that.) 28 absolute is also too low I would say about 18 to 20 PSI relative...
