    Poor running

Morning, just thought I'd let u know the surging issue returned a few days ago! Took it into pk automotive in Lincoln for full diagnostic test, he had it 3 days & nothing showed up! It ran perfect every road test! After a long discussion about my symptoms, & due to it only occurring after a good...

    Poor running

Mine ran OK with the maf unplugged, but it did rattle a bit & sounded harsh under load due to the over fueling. Running much sweeter with the new maf. My local landy specialist (maltings off road, doncaster) said bosch every time, just a shame I got a bad one to start with! Good luck & hope u...

    Poor running

Hello again, Just an update on the running issue. It turns out that the new Bosch Maf sensor was faulty! Another Bosch Maf is fitted now & it runs as sweet as it should, lots of power & no surging. Just my luck to get a dodgy part! Anyway, very pleased it's fixed. Just ordered a new gkn viscous...

    Poor running

Booking it in with pk automotive in Lincoln for a full diagnostics. He has a four wheel drive rolling road so can connect all his gadgets & see what's going on. Meanwhile, my boss is very kindly lending me his car to tow the caravan. It's a Range Rover sport 3.6 tdv8, so think I'm going to enjoy...

    Poor running

Thanks for your replies. Been out on a long run tonight & it ran like a piece of ****! When you go to accelerate in any gear at any speed it hesitates followed by a cloud of smoke, also if trying to hold steady speed it gradually slows itself down. Feels like running an older petrol with the...

    Poor running

Crankcase breather is the bmw modified one. The egr was a bit gummed up, cleaned it out & it moves freely. I've only had the car 2 months & know the previous owner, he bought it in 2008 at 60k & only changed oil once! It' had 98,000 when I got it. It was cheap so thought I'd risk it despite the...

    Poor running

Thanks for your reply. Sounds like it's a very common fault! Think I'm going to run with it & see if it improves, towing the caravan to York this weekend so will give it a good run. To be honest, it's one of those things that gets stuck in your mind & you find yourself looking for it happening I...

    Poor running

hi again, I've got a 55 plate td4 with a running issue. Cold starting has always been bad with smoke & lumpy idle. If you hold revs at 2000 when cold you can't see behind it & misfires like a good un! It's always felt to surge a bit when cruising at 50-55, like dabbing the brakes now & then, so...

    high mileage

Not many k series will last that long, certainly not on original gasket in my experience. Not Land Rover related, but I recently hired a Mercedes sprinter with 305k miles on!! Drove like new & was told still original engine, so if a thrashed hire van can do it then a well serviced td4 should too.

    Annoying vibrations!

Thought you might like to know that the vibration is now gone! It was the rear diff front support bush which had collapsed. It runs lovely & smooth now. Thanks very much to all who took the time to reply, it is very much appreciated.

    Annoying vibrations!

101,000 miles. I work at a garage & had a 52 td4 5 door 124,000 miles, then we had this 55 td4 adventurer 3 door come in px. My boss offered me a straight swap, no money at all, so I bit his hand off!!

    Annoying vibrations!

Come to think of it, when I was under the truck I did notice that the rear vcu bearing had been replaced. Apart from this problem, I love the truck, but it's got to last me a few years so hope I can get it sorted!

    Annoying vibrations!

Thanks, will try all your suggestions. The wheels have very recently been balanced. I've only had it 2 months & when I got it the rear tyres were new & fronts near the limit so I bought 2 to match the rears & put them on the rear. I was going to whip the prop off to eliminate it, if it cures it...

    Annoying vibrations!

hi all, I'm sure this subject has been discussed before but thought I'd post anyway to see if my symptoms are different. I have a 55 freelander td4 & it has developed a vibration. It is felt from 50 to 60 & gone by 70mph. Steering doesn't shake but it's felt through front edge of drivers seat...

    Hello

Hi, I'm new to the forum. I've joined because I've got a passion for land rovers & want to connect with like minded people. I'm a car mechanic from lincolnshire & I drive a 2002 freelander td4 S. I know they get some stick, but it's been brilliant. I do 20,000 miles a year & it's very reliable...
