    Broken off Fir Tree Plugs

Borrowed a mate's tap and die set today and it was a doddle to clear the threads. Simply drilled down with a 1mm bit a few times to loosen the plastic and then re-tapped with an M6 to clean up the threads. Getting that crossbar on is a fiddly job though - given up for tonight.

    Broken off Fir Tree Plugs

Cheers mate, it's a good tip but these are in solid and because they are plastic they just sheer off. Being recessed means you can't actually get at them very easily but on the broken off ones I tried tapping the tip of a screwdriver into the plastic and twisting it and that just made more...

    Broken off Fir Tree Plugs

I started to fit a set of roof rails to my Freelander 2 today and got the front bits drilled and the new bolt system in place to make the front bracket but had a little trouble with the back. At the back as you know there are 4 nuts protected by Fir Tree Plugs and they just won't come out. I've...

    Passenger Compartment Fuse F5 on a FL2 2012?

BTW, I like the look of the 64 plate box better, there's some nice convenient bolts just to the side that would make a good earth patch. I had to take the black wire behind the glove box and secure it to a nut I found at the top to get to an easy earth point.

    Passenger Compartment Fuse F5 on a FL2 2012?

For completeness here's the cover off this fuse box in my car.. and here's the actual fuse box with the piggy back hardwire kit in place.. it looks a little like it's in F3 in this pic but it's deffo in F5, the bit that's over F4 and F3 are the right angle fuse assemblies in the hardwire probe...

    Passenger Compartment Fuse F5 on a FL2 2012?

I didn't do any exhaustive tests but when I removed the fuse in F5 no warnings started occurring so I guess I should probably be happy that it isn't critical :)

    Passenger Compartment Fuse F5 on a FL2 2012?

The ABS on the 2012 Freelander 2, according to my manual and cover off the passenger compartment box, is F3 not F5. As I said that fuse, even though it's present (F5) has nothing recorded in the manual or on the box lid.

    Passenger Compartment Fuse F5 on a FL2 2012?

My typo this time. Sorry, it was F5 I'm looking to identify and that doesn't appear in the manual or box cover.

    Passenger Compartment Fuse F5 on a FL2 2012?

Yeah, I didn't mean F52 in that box. I'm trying to identify F2 in the passenger compartment box below the glove box.. that's the one that I'm currently using because it comes on with the ignition but it's not labelled on the diagram on the box lid or in the owners manutla.

    Passenger Compartment Fuse F5 on a FL2 2012?

Cheers mate, yeah the fusebox cover also shows that fuse to be unused but as mentioned it did have a 10A fuse in it already.

    Passenger Compartment Fuse F5 on a FL2 2012?

Actually, if anybody wants the Torx set link they mislabelled it and it's under Hex keys on their website.

    Passenger Compartment Fuse F5 on a FL2 2012?

I just fitted a Dashcam with a hardwire kit and was struggling to find a completely free fuse space on an ignition start slot. BTW: Top tip is Wickes sell a great Torx key set (like a foldout Allen Key set) that has the T30 needed to get the door pillar moulding off the 2012 FL2 and it isn't...

Heated steering wheel.. do I actually have one? How to turn it on?

But that's the weird thing, the handbook doesn't mention it at all but the specs on the HSE model for the year say it has it and I'm pretty sure it stated it in the documentation at the dealership. I have a mate though that has an earlier Freelander 2 that mentioned the same thing on the stereo...

Heated steering wheel.. do I actually have one? How to turn it on?

Yes, thanks, as I mentioned there doesn't seem to be a button near my phone controls or anywhere else that relate to heated steering wheel. I did a little searching and found that thread already but thanks anyway hd3.

Heated steering wheel.. do I actually have one? How to turn it on?

I recently bought a 2012 SD4 HSE Freelander 2 which has all the standard stuff for a 2012 SD4 HSE and mentions Heated Steering Wheel. So, the heated seats are easy as there's a self explanatory image on a button in the middle of the temperature dials on each side but the steering wheel..? I...

    Hi there

Andy here from Cheshire, ditched the Beemer this year after really suffering from not being able to get anywhere when it snowed and wanting to visit a few of those fishing spots more often than I dared to in the BMW. Got myself a good deal on a 2012 Freelander 2 HSE.. fully loaded with only 22K...
