    Disco 1 Shock Absorbers

Thanks Guys It looks as if the existing mounts are dropped by 2". If I were to install +2" shocks, would that theoretically give me +4" shocks, and although I can see the benefit in articulation is there something else I should consider, such as the shocks hitting the end-stop under compression?

    Disco 1 Shock Absorbers

Hi All Just been to my first 'Pay and Play' session in the Disco, and somehow managed to destroy both rear shock absorbers. Now, before you judge Me, I'd like to point out that I bought the Disco with a 2" lift already in place, and assumed (in good faith) that the shocks had been replaced...

Disco 1 Stupid question about bumpers

Thanks Stu I'm also insured through Adrian Flux, so it's nice to know they won't increase the premium. I've done some further digging and found one supplier of tubular winch bumpers, and they state that their bumpers are designed for Off-Road use ONLY...

Disco 1 Stupid question about bumpers

Hi I'm looking to replace the plastic bumper on my Disco with a steel one. After umming and Ahhing about whether to get a winch bumper or non winch bumper, I have decided on getting a winch bumper. Specifically I'm looking to get a tubular steel bumper like this one...

Disco 1 Steering protection - Straw Poll

OK, last question on this (I promise) and it is still kinda related to the original topic.... So I've resigned myself to re-locating the steering damper, but having trawled multiple forums I'm a little confused. Is there a difference between Defender and Disco/RRC steering dampers? for...

Disco 1 Steering protection - Straw Poll

Hi All, an update on where I currently am with protecting my steering... So I went ahead and bought the tracking rod guard from Gywn Lewis, got it home with plans of installing it over the weekend, only to be reminded that the steering damper on my Disco is on the tracking rod, and not the...

Disco 1 Steering protection - Straw Poll

Hi Johnlad That looks like a nice bit of kit, and unless I'm mistaken it looks like you can bolt a diff guard on to it aswell. Incidentally a front diff guard is also on my wish list......

Disco 1 Steering protection - Straw Poll

Thanks for the replies. Based on the above I think I'll go with the HD steering rods for now, and see how that works out for me. Replacing the rods seems straightforward, but do you have any advice on relocating the dampers? Is it a horrible job or relatively straightforward? Sorry if the...

Disco 1 Steering protection - Straw Poll

Hi All I'm becoming obsessed with giving the steering rods on my Disco the best overall protection I can afford before the onset of winter and the inevitably treacherous conditions off-road that come with it. Having scoured various forums and weighed up the various pros and cons I'm still...

    Disco 1 Noisy power steering

Thanks All for the replies. I've been itching to get into the engine and fiddle with stuff, so replacing the PAS pump could be the excuse I need to get started :) I've also noticed that the Vacuum pump seems to have a liberal coating of fresh oil at all times, so I suspect that will be next on...

    Disco 1 Noisy power steering

Greetings I've had my Disco for around 3 weeks now, and so far so good it's running like a dream. One of the 'eccentricities' that I've noticed is that at standstill or low speeds the power steering makes a groaning noise. I've searched this forum for other people suffering the same issue and...

    First Land Rover

Hi All I've just purchased my first Land Rover, and am already planning all of the bits and pieces that I feel need to be added to it (with a little advice from Landy owning friends). It's a Disco 1 300TDi, so expect to see me popping up on the Disco forum very soon, with many questions :)
