It's running but lots of smoke, the lad who looked at it says he thinks the head is cracked and when it heats up the crack opens so new engine needed. Hopefully picking one up this week. Mark

Thanks, sounds terminal. I've not checked. Just parked it up and left it. What would that signify? Is there an easy way to check whether the engine is kaput? It wont turn over now. Are these engines fixable or would it require one off a scrapper? Sorry for all the questions, not experienced...

Found a split hose so put a new hose on. Took the car for a drive, was great for 5mins then started making a horrendous ticking noise sounding like it was coming from underneath the car, smoke billowing out everywhere. Turned the car off, car carried on running, revs got faster and faster...

There's some very slight play when you wiggle it side to side but feels free when you spin it round..

Hi all, managed to get the suspension lifted and new wheels and tyres on the car last week. Looks miles better. Drives awful as expected! Went to the shop yesterday but the car wouldnt go over 2500 revs, drove fine under the revs, pulled over and car was billowing with smoke. Turned car off...

Thanks, I couldn't really tell, I was on the A6 and it was quite busy today so just turned the engine off. It disappeared once I turned it back on again. I'll take a few components off tomorrow to inspect and give it another test run to try and replicate the fault. Mark

Sounds like too much effort!

It's just going to live in the field for the moment, the wheels have been ordered so will need to pinch the tyres of it and a couple of other bits. If anything changes I will let you know!

Cheers, only just realised having dug through a few threads. I'll be able to knock something up with a lever into the cockpit!
