Tested the Waxstat. Same. Not opening until low 90's, fully open around 97 deg C. Would love someone else to confirm this.

8 years later, same problem. Does the Philips sub woofer plug do anything useful, or can I just snip off the 2 wires, connect a couple of solderless RCA connectors and shove it into the back of the radio? (instead of the ingenious bodge shown.)
