    Chassis too high off springs?

The shackle plates were another thing I forgot to take pics of. Pics of all sorts of random rust but never any of what I actually need a pic of!

    That sounds right. :D

    Chassis too high off springs?

The shackles clamp to the inner core part of the bush so if you torque it all up in the wrong position the rubber will fail in no time as it is twisted from the start. With poly bushes the inner cor is free floating and if you torque up in the wrong position the shaft will just move to the new...

Refitting of Steering Relay top seal

Series 3 AVM free wheeling hubs

I have AVM on mine, well more accurate.y in the garage, and I have used the refurb kits but they don't have all the seals in them. The bit you turn to engage and disengage 4 wheel drive has a v section seal around it that isn't in the kits so don't rip it out.

    S3 2.25 petrol BANG! Help/opinions/yada please?

Apart from the initial bang was it noisy? As in death rattle, spinny things thrashing the insides to pieces type of noise. If the little end broke I would expect ALOT of noise and the engine to be scrap but if it snapped around the wrist bit at the big end then it could be OK. Piston gets stuck...

    S3 2.25 petrol BANG! Help/opinions/yada please?

Never seen a piston mould itself into the shape of the combustion chamber before. 10/10 for style and panache! I bet there will be more damage to the bore lower down.

    Almost did it again!

Another thing I am bad for is changing my mind. I was going to use the 2.5NA that came with the truck but then I decided I didnt want to cut the new chassis and risk the wrath of the dvla so I got a 2.25 diesel to rebuild AND then I discovered the 200tdi is a straight swap.... sigh I now have 3...

Series 3 Replacing steering relay lower seal in-situ

Found them.... First you will need to completely compress the spring as in the pic. The metal plates on the side are to hold the spring compressed if you zoom in you will see the lip is shapped to allow the relay shaft to pass theough. I think it was a tclamp I used to hold it all together when...

Series 3 Replacing steering relay lower seal in-situ

I have a few pics from when I did mine. No special tools needed but you may need to make a spring compressor unless you have the hands of the Hulk. I will just search for the pics

    Almost did it again!

During my, shall we say protracted, rebuild I have bought several parts more than once. A few that spring to mind are clutch master and slave cylinders, drum screws, horn and various small bits like seals. Well I have just moved most of the rebuilt or new parts from my mums to home and I was...

Series 3 Replacing steering relay lower seal in-situ

Sounds like its rusted onto the relay and if that is the case I would be very surprised if the relay shaft isn't very rusted as well. When I started my rebuild I cleaned my relay up and put new seals on it. A while later I had a proper look and the shaft was really bad where both seals run so I...

    Series 3 Body Removal

When I took mine apart the roof bolts were ok and rust free, the rear panels were mostly ok with some rust on the weird bolt things in the rear corners. The tub I think 83.78 % of them snapped and the rest were cut off. I think the bulkhead bolts were cut off due to a combination of rust and...
