    New td5 cylinder head issues!

Thanks for the replies! Well I have got it!!! That number one injector showing funny readings on nanocom! I took it out yesterday, replaced it with a friends known working one, instantly ran better. This morning, no smoke, perfect idle, running like a dream!! So I paid a fair bit for my...

    New td5 cylinder head issues!

Yes I agree, even with the nanocom, you really need to know what you are looking at. - but temps do seem accurate and normal. - starts beautifully, every time. -it runs better after new injectors, but the idle / low rev cold start problem still exists. Nope it was a bag of the proverbial...

    New td5 cylinder head issues!

Yep your right! Only fired the new map, as I had no idea what map was on the car if any, so this ruled that variable out. I’m having to recover the ground workshop carried out, as we ( them and me) have not got to the bottom. I’m not saying they have done a bad job, as I have them a Landy with...

    New td5 cylinder head issues!

no,not really. i played with the cam position ( small adjustment by loosening the 3 bolts on the front of cam). it made a huge difference, as i was convinced it was timing, workshop told me it was not possible to get it wrong. is there a digital way to check timing? thanks.

On a separate note, i made a video whilst i changed the injector harness, clearly not instructional! but fun learning to make videos. ta.

    New td5 cylinder head issues!

ok interesting replies! - I really hope its not seals, as that would be 4 sets?!! and i asked the workshop to take extra care and they have the tool to cut the face if required, but i guess this does not rule it out?! - I also hope its not the rings! whilst the head was off, we inspected the...

    New td5 cylinder head issues!

It would appear you are correct! Loom made no difference, except rule it out of my mind! I have just had the seals re - replaced with genuine landrover ones, so hopefully it’s not seals. Runs so rough to start with, only clears if I drive it. I’m leaning to my injectors not being built...

    New td5 cylinder head issues!

Thanks for the response, that’s a fair point, I guess I’m clutching at straws, there was plenty of oil in the injector loom plug on the engine loom side, so thought it’s probably best. Not thought about the coolant readings, I’ll see what they show in the morning. Thanks.

    New td5 cylinder head issues!

A few updates then! interesting day with the defender! in order of events - New Alive stage 2 Tune uploaded.... - obviously, no difference in start issue idling rough and lots of smoke at low revs, until driven. - drives like a beast on new tune! absolutely amazing. - then...... it started...

    New td5 cylinder head issues!

Thanks for the reply, there was me thinking 800 was a lot?! I was certainly not trying to find the cheapest place. They did provide me with new codes, and I have used my nanocom to enter them. I added an Alive stage 2 Tune file yesterday, obviously this has not fixed my poor running when...

What have you done on your 90/110/130 today?

Ok so I did a thing today! Well a few. I fitted carpet to the middle row, no big deal, but I filmed it, and it’s something I have never tried to do, talk on camera! Even worse to post it online? Taking a pill of bravery, first video with me chatting. Maybe it’s useless, but if one person...

    New td5 cylinder head issues!

Cheers for that, u fortunately mine does it in all weather, and takes me driving it to clear, needs to warm up, it can leave a lot of grey / bluey smoke. Pain in the arse. Distinct misfits too. Regarding the head and cam, it was a new head, I think it was fitted incorrectly or the head was...

    New td5 cylinder head issues!

Thanks for the reply, I did not know that re the Cam, they could well have used the wrong one, I can’t rule it out. Ecu is standard, but I have alive sending em a new stage 2. I’ll check vacuum hoses, but I think they are ok. The MAP seems to read ok, I did replace it 1 year ago, Many...

    New td5 cylinder head issues!

Update time.... There was no way i could feasibly prove anyone wrong, and my car was stuck in the garage, so i paid for a new head ( at cost) and agreed that the labour was removed, so both supplier and workshop compromised ( i still got the poor end of the stick, as it cost me an additional...

    Nanocom Results / Rough Starting

Old thread but you heave EXACTLY the same issue I have! Did you ever get to the bottom of it? I have had a new cylinder head, rebuilt injectors, multiple sensors, new pump, filter and housing, new injector loom etc etc. I thought I had a break through, I adjusted the timing via the cam, it...

    New td5 cylinder head issues!

Hello forum, But if a disaster, I had a cracked cylinder head, leaking injector. I was short on time but decided to get a new cylinder head, from a reputable engineering firm. I had a good garage install it, and now I’m left with a reached new cylinder head and no one admiring fault. What’s...

    What color is this?

Thanks for all the replies, The Umdra grey looks neat. I also agree with the light green / grey as i recon it has a tint of olive green in it. The reason i ask is i think it looks a little more interesting than landrovers standard Mid grey. Cheers everyone. Landy is getting an MOT...
