Had a good day today! Started and a bit of painting done. The distributor was 180 degrees out, pointing the opposite way to cylinder 1 on the start of the down stroke. Tested with a finger in the spark plug hole. Paint is coming along literally farted all this rust all over the drive...

After a wee bit research it seems the rover v8 can leak soot from into the oil in places. Now I'm hoping after sitting for 12 years it may just be a build up of gunk/not getting used. (I have seen that on other forums) And nothing more serious....like 'black death' This is a budget resto so...

Excellent, I'm getting there I think. I had continuity between 1 point and the chassis, and 2nd point and cable -> coil (disconnected). (after adjusting) Thanks Dominic Anyway I'm getting a spark on my little plug in tester that I bought. YES! I have the battery on charge tonight! Took the...

The riveted patch is to hide the holes in the body work...I actually like it. Maybe a farmer used it as a work bench at some point haha! Thanks Dominic, I should be doing some tomorrow and will report the results...is the coil -> distributor body lead supposed to be connected to the condenser...

Haha yes the rotor arm was fitted! I bought the points from paddocks, do you mean they don't match up? The chassis needs the front legs and rear cross member, everywhere else can withstand a stab

Here is an update on the Landy, trying to get as much time doing it as possible. HAVE NOT MANAGED TO START IT YET. Any enthusiastic tinkers fancy lending a hand would be great. The fact it will not go is holding me up a little. I have replaced everything between the coil and engine...

I do like the patina on this but it's going to be bronze green, I hope by next week. Got the body work prep almost done today and removed the NS mud shield with the wee steering box and the 'crossmember' that's under the cab that I can't find online...see what you think. It's almost like a strut...

Thanks for the tips. There is no fan, I think for access to the front of the engine re the distributor drive. I'll go electric I think.

When I went to view. The delivery guy couldn't get his trailer up the drive so had to push it off up the hill and then push it up the drive round a 90 degree corner. Super stressful with no brakes, no clutch and what I thought was a seized steering damper! Got it up safely, started...
