What have you done to your Freelander today

I topped up the coolant. Again. Thats about 1.5 litres since the end of December. It's a TD4 so no head gasket problems. I did have the clutch done when I bought it and he mentioned the IRD hoses. The expansion tank doesn't have any cracks and the cap is good.

fuel additives, which ones are good/bad?

I've just been reading up on it. It's called Terraclean, it's supposed to clean the injectors onwards. The threads I've seen on various forums have been positive so far, cleaner emissions, improved running and fuel economy

fuel additives, which ones are good/bad?

What does veg oil do? are you adding white spirit and waiting a week or anything?

fuel additives, which ones are good/bad?

I used wynns injector cleaner on my Ford TDCi engine after an MOT failure. Tester said it was too smoky to get a reading. I added a bottle to my tank and gave it an italian tune up and it sailed through the retest. The car didn't belch smoke under heavy acceleration anymore. I tried Millers...

What tyres do you have on your freelander

Wrangler HP All Weather from the previous owner. They did well in the snow and have plenty of tread left, so won't be replaced anytime soon.

    Dave Smith's Freelander

It looks very tidy from the outside. Best of luck with it.

    Another rebuild, Td5 90

Yep. It was purely for the contrast for the roof and body.;)

    Another rebuild, Td5 90

Both would work well. I can't photoshop, but the black looks nice here. You really should do this for a living. Get your arse to a farmers country/agriculture supplies, where they buy animal feeds and stuff. Most of their customers probably own a land rover. You can thrust your cards...

    Which would you buy?

No you're right, it's a haldex coupling unit

    Which would you buy?

Both cars are right on the mileage for a VCU change. I'd have the 4WD checked by a specialist to prevent future bills and throw it back to the garage under warrenty for them to sort if they find any. Maybe change all the fluids/greases too, You don't have to worry about it then.

What have you done to your Freelander today

We should swap :p I've just been on youtube watching videos and I noticed that I haven't got the clicking from the fuel pump? before it fires. If I can get it to fire and run, I'll join the wires together from the thermostat by the bumper and just remove the fuse when I don't need it any...

What have you done to your Freelander today

Fixed the rear door handle. You couldn't open the door from the outside, just needed the rod inside the lock mechanism again. Mucked about with the FBH. It'll attempt to fire, but it cuts out after a minute. I did it a few times and the air from it's exhaust was getting warmer but it still...

    Which would you buy?

The second one is an 08, so only a year older, 1500 quid cheaper and it doesn't have a tow bar meaning it potentially hasn't worked as hard for it's mileage. You then have £1500 to pay for any milage related repairs like injectors or preventative like VCU etc

What have you done to your Freelander today

MOT'd it after realising it had lapsed :o Both track rod ends need replacing and the seat belt is frayed. Only 1 advisory that brake pads are low. Happy with that, wasn't sure what he was going find  Get that sorted this week :)
