I kind of worked that one out as well but is it suitable for reprogramming to a Defender?

    No ECU

Thanks and yes I would have a good idea that a used EUC from a Defender would probably reprogram for my Defender and also I appreciate there are companies online that will do this for me (at a price) but what I would really like to know is if an ECU from a Discovery 2 would be suitable for...

    No ECU

I have bought a non runner 2000 Defender TD5 at auction. I've discovered it has been robbed of the ECU from under the drivers seat as well as most of its relays and I'm sure the list wont stop there. Is it possible to fit and reprogram an ECU from a Discovery TD5, or what is my best way to go...

    Disco 2 Wheelarch coating

Yes, as discodrivercumbria said: - remove them, sand them, apply plastic primer, paint them then refit them. I did mine a couple of years ago as they had become rough like sandpaper.

    Alternator charging fault

From the voltages you stated it looks like your alternator is working as it should. It also looks like the battery is OK as well so that leaves the starter motor, I would check the power and earth leads to the starter and if it still persists get the starter checked.

    Alternator charging fault

According to these readings I would think that all is in order. IMHO

    Alternator charging fault

Test at the alternator with a multimeter connecting positive on the output terminal of the alternator and the negative terminal to a good earth point. Start the engine the reading should be roughly between 13.8v and 14.2v. You could also test at the battery terminals, with the engine off take a...

    Hawkeye expert needed

Its apparently my original BCU which had the chip changed, the odometer isn't flashing and has retained the original mileage. It is set to 'always disarm with key' but I'll do as you say and wait for a week and see if anything happens before I try what you say.

Thanks Sierrafery - I got the BCU back today and connected all up. Put on Hawkeye, went as you said to Engine EMS-Programming-Immobiliser menu, hawkeye detected a wrong engine code, after agreeing to that it started to learn the code and YES the engine started. The only problem is that...

Thanks again, I have been in touch with Turner Diagnostics in Hemel Hempstead and have sent the BCU and both keys to them. They say they will be able to 'unlock' the BCU enable the EKA option that was disabled and recode both keys.

OK thanks - you say sync it with the engine immobiliser code, where can I get this code and would hawkeye be sufficient to do all that is required.

Yes I was thinking it was a bad idea to switch off the EKA, so what are the complications of fitting another BCU. Could a secondhand BCU be fitted, I see a guy selling them on ebay. He supplies them with chassis number and EKA code, what else has to be programmed into the unit to match it to...
