I've been getting exactly the same thing for the past month on and off, took it to the garage, no faults showing, they reckon it's a sensor on the way out, but not quite broke yet.

Michelin lattitude cross, if you do more Road than off road.

Blank the egr, I had the same problem on my disco 2, de Egr sorted it.

Does it still have an Egr? Removing that should help, exhaust manifold clean/replacement? Brake caliper sticking?
