    Wiper cable issues

My lesson learnt is any functioning part buy original LR! The Wiper boxes were crap from Britpart. Also OEM supplier doesn't nessarily mean the part you are actually buying is/was supplied to LR, only that they do/did supply parts to LR, but maybe not THAT part.

    LED Conversion question.

Fitted the RDX side, stop and indicator lamps and the adjustable flasher relay, all came with cons, so no problem, work great. Now got Fog and Reverse light to fit but anyone done this as access to the bolts behind rear panel with all the mud is not good. Thinking of drilling the bolts out from...

    Theft of Defender doors

Ball bearings means no one can remove them, not even the owner to repair. Alt head screws is best, so long as not common varieties.

    Theft of Defender doors

Fastenright.com have a good selection of unique heads which require unique adaptors, at least a deterrent. I'm thinking of maybe two different head bolts on each door! But they all seem to be different lengths between each door and hinge which means I need to remove before ordering?

    Theft of Defender doors

Yes Mick the Builder, I am looking at that. Not break off heads as may need to replace doors one day but there are many unique security headed bolts and id choose the most obscure, i.e. not Screwfix!

New to TD 5 Defender - 'Misfire' Trouble

Well been driving my Landy for couple days now and the kangarooing has all gone. Drives smoothly up to the governor now without problems. Definitely the waste gate. Wish I'd checked that before changing the injector loom. Never mind, fixed now.

New to TD 5 Defender - 'Misfire' Trouble

Hi, Guys, Funnily enough I think I just cracked mine on my 2000MY TD5 today. Been kangarooing for a long time now and like others I changed the injector loom thinking oil up the lead although the ECU connector looked clean so didn't go that far. Have been WD40ing the turbo waste gate pivot for a...

    Wiper cable issues

How did this thread end? I am almost tearing my hair out 'cos I ordered both cable and gear parts from LR.net thinking they were genuine LR parts (as their website says if Googled) but they were Britparts and one of the drive boxes was made with a hammer and the cable was about 30 cms too long...

What have you done to your Landie today.

Nice little 20 min job to get the heater blower switches working consistently. Removed the instrument binnacle and got switch cleaner into the contacts, awful cheap design!, then got a few dribbles of oil down the cable, awful cheap design! Works better now.

Can I remove some of my bulkhead?

Like I said above, why can't you attach the sides to the roll cage bar if you say there are holes and brackets on the cage nearby. I wouldn't drill or cut the cage bars as that may reduce its strength, but making brackets to clamp to the cage and bolted to the body sides seems a sensible mod.

    Cubby box rattling

Black tape wrap around the lower leg so that when closed it gets a three way sandwich between box side, lower leg and upper leg, stops any lateral movement. May need packing out under tape on box side if large clearance. Or, can't see what joint fixings it has but can you crush/squeeze them to...

Can I remove some of my bulkhead?

Is the safety cage attached to the vehicle sides closeto the bulkhead? Can't see from photos. If not I would say no you can't unless you make strong brackets to attach it. The roll cage looks like it's got a substantial bar across the vehicle behind the BH so that could replace the top section...

Oh boy! Don't forget to check WHY the pulley disintegrated. Was it anything to do with motorway drive? Overheating somewhere? Rubbing parts?

    Internal straps

The curtain pole idea is a good one; if you support the boards via bungies they will bounce up and down during driving, so having a rigid support underneath them is necessary. Assume boards would go on top of poles with bungies strapping them down tight.
