If it is like other cars, you can have new keys cut using the existing barrel and code from it. A locksmith should be able to do that for you. And :welcome2:

Can't find it on youtube, but over here we had a tv programme - wheeler dealers. They bought a disco and replaced the steering box for a similar steering issue as you have.

Do you have any history with the vehicle, or even roughly when it was last serviced? Every car i buy, the first thing i do is renew all fluids/belts/filters - whether the last owner has said they were done or had them done. That way i know where i stand on servicing. :)
