I have now replaced the fuel pump, and it was a lot easier taaking the roof off (thankfully it didn't rain) to lift the floor. Thanks to all for the replies. Chris

Thank you Optimus for your reply, I will give it a go and thanks for the tip about removing the roof. I'm not 100% sure it's in the fuel tank, but going off the service manuals and what they say regarding the location of the fuel pump, it seems they only moved it to the wheel arch in 2002...
