TD5 Oil Lake (Not a Spelling Mistake!)

I know this is a very old thread, but I’ve been experiencing the exact same problem - a crack around the RH bolt of the oil filter housing, only I’ve now gone through a total of 3 filter housings in a just over a week (and lost a lot of oil). Only occurred after removing and refitting the...

    Oil filter housing cracking

First replacement was from my doner vehicle, second off eBay. The oil cooler was also off my doner, which has been sat for a couple of years now…

    Oil filter housing cracking

That’s three different lay-bys on same stretch of road in the last week…. Locals are starting to make jokes now…

    Oil filter housing cracking

Yep going to get around to that but gonna have to get my neighbour to tow it back home from the lay-by first! Luckily not too far!

    Oil filter housing cracking

Hi all, The TD5 woes are coming thicker and faster these days… After installing a replacement oil cooler housing (used), I’ve gone through THREE oil filter housings, which are all cracking in the exact same place - just to the left of where the RH bolt fastens to the cooler. Each time It has...

    Fuel line quick connect broken

Aha! In the knowledge that I had another spare quick connect from my doner connected to the fuel cooler, I just went ahead and tried to pull the inner tab mechanism out from the inside of the connector… and it actually comes out quite easily if treated with care! The plastic teeth inside the...

    Fuel line quick connect broken

Haha! Good philosophy… I ordered a 8mm Barb which arrived today (judged on the size of the fuel line), but what I didn’t account for was that there is an inner 6mm plastic line on the inside of the rubber one… annoying! But fairly certain if I use a bit of heat to insert a 6mm it will do the job!

    Fuel line quick connect broken

Reinstalled my engine this afternoon and after a couple of minutes running the green fuel delivery line popped out of the FPR. The quick fit connector seems to be faulty - it clicks on but is easily pulled back out. I don’t particularly want to replace the entire fuel line right now! I’m...

Engine out - killing as many birds as possible

Hey all, I’ve removed my engine as one of the core plugs had completely failed (underneath the FPR). Obviously makes a lot of sense to do some maintenance while it’s out! Gonna change all the core plugs and there’s quite a bit of red stuff around the oil cooler assembly so will get a new...

    Disco 2 SLS again

I’m driving with compressor disconnected and the beeping is randomly intermittent - might that be a sign that there is a short in the wiring?

    Disco 2 SLS again

    Disco 2 SLS again

Hi, sorry for some reason I didn’t see the reply until after I posted. It’s just curious that it happened on both sides. I replaced the sensors just over a year ago, so assumed they are ok. Saying that they aren’t originals so who knows. Nanocom says to wait 60 seconds after ignition off to save...

    Disco 2 SLS again

Hi guys, Driving with trailer and N/S rear overinflated - used the nanocom to get it back down and disconnected the compressor to get home. Fault was reading “rear right sensor output too low. Intermittent 016 times. Upon investigation the plug to the sensor was filled with crap. Cleaned it out...

    Disco 2 Crank pulley rattle

Yeah I had a read through. Big fan of his work! I took the damper off, which seems to be in good nick. The problem is this: So a new pulley… yay!
