    DIY heated windscreen loom

Two reasons; 1) My screen isn't broken. Maybe I could argue that the milky edges and the few tiny tiny chips and general wear might warrant a new screen. 2) My current screen is not heated, so getting an "upgrade" seems a bit dodgy. Maybe I'm missing something? :)

    DIY heated windscreen loom

Thanks! Yes, I have windscreen cover, so I've been thinking about using that. However, don't feel totally comfortable with doing it. :)

Would you mind sharing how much the screen, the seal and the fitting cost you? I'd like a heated screen too. :)

Insurance and MOT implications after station wagon conversion.

If you just want the ability to carry 4 people comfortably, all you should need to do is to buy (expensive) seats, fit them, and make sure your MOT guy is happy with it (again, do check the proper rules, don't rely on my info :D ). If you want to occasionally go into LEZ, borrow another car...

Insurance and MOT implications after station wagon conversion.

I'm definitely no source of 100% correct information on this subject, and I am not claiming that either. My other half looked into this briefly and came to the conclusion that converting my Defender van into a car was not worth it. Mine is registered as a van, need van insurance, can't go into...

Insurance and MOT implications after station wagon conversion.

There's two parts of this that you need to be aware of. The first one is for you to convert a hardtop into a CSW. This typically involves windows, more seats and other comfort things like insulation, etc. You can (almost) freely do these modifications. You need to update the data you have on...

    Dinitrol? definitive answer required.

I used the POR15 system and the ML, never got round to doing the DIN4941M - however, I've got enough left so that I can do another round this summer. :)

Defender 90 plastic load area protector, Bicester, Oxon.

Hi, My Landy came with this plastic load area protector. Just like this one. Genuine land rover defender 90 rear load area/space liner/tray/mat/protector plastic. I don't want it, so I took it out, now it's just taking up space in the back garden. I don't know what it's worth so I'm open...

    TD5 Defender. Bad breaking

Your car, your choice. Corrosion on a lump of metal that size usually isn't a problem. A wire brush will make an easy job of it (and paint them if you want). If you're changing the callipers, at least sell the old ones on eBay or something. They're still 100% serviceable. Mine are Lockheed too, btw.

    TD5 Defender. Bad breaking

The ones I got were Allmakes, or some such, I believe. Not OEM, but no complaints on the quality. Took some elbow grease and compressed air to get the old pistons out, but once they were out, replacing them wasn't difficult. For less than £60 (including fluid) the front brakes now work as they...

A calliper service kit is about £25 per calliper, includes new pistons and seals.

TD5 making the clutch lighter for next to nothing

Very interesting, thanks! Any links to to said product? My clutch is so stiff that I regularly call Arnold Schwarzenegger round to help me drive the thing. :-/

Ran out of fuel? Now won't start

Went out to the car. Did the 5-presses-on-the-throttle fuel priming thing. Let it run for quite a while. The pump was very noisy at start and when finished still noisy but not too bad. When it was done, I climbed into the cab, turned the key, held the throttle to the floor and cranked it over...

Ah, brilliant, some hope at last! :D I'll have a look at that. Thanks! :clap2:

Ran out of fuel? Now won't start

Hi, I'm sure this has been discussed before, so I'm just looking for a bit of assurance. :D Whilst being away, my better half took the Defender (1999 TD5 90) out, I told her that it'll probably need some fuel, and she was driving towards the fuel station and on a downhill the Defender died...
