Hi all I feel I might be getting somewhere at last. I'm not getting an RPM signal from the crankshaft position sensor. What would you recommend that I check now. I think once I get a signal I might be able to start it.

How do I do this?

Hi I have still got the orange spray light on the dash.

Right I went and bought a brand new crankshaft position sensor today fitted it with a 1mm gap using feeler gauge's. It starts fine but still revs up to 3000rpm & will not idle. Any help as I am now losing the will to live with it.

Sorry to have caused any upset within the forum. I have tried adjusting it in & out and I still can not get it to idle correctly. I think I might have to get it booked in somewhere which is annoying as I have done the big work with changing the gearbox. It has to be something to do with the cps...

The bracket that goes to the block has been put back in it's original position as I can see where the bolt head was as it's clean. The crank angle sensor just bolts to the bracket.

No there wasn't a spacer like you describe I got a second hand one from Emmotts and they just said to swap the bracket over. They didn't mention a spacer. Have you got any images of this spacer. The cps can be inserted all the way in till it touches the drive plate so there isn't any shim or...

When you say spacer do you mean the bracket that secure's it to the block?

Hi thanks for your info. I can start the range up everytime. It just ticks over at about 3000 revs by the sound of it.

Is there a way that I can test the sensor? As a new one is nearly a £100 so I've been told. The cps reads from the 6 small pins on the back of the drive plate doesn't it? Would this cause the orange spray light to come on the dash & my rev counter to stop working?

Right I've checked absolutely everything. I've double checked the cps and the gap between the drive plate & it's spot on. I have also had it on a snap on diagnostics and it says the rpm sensor is at fault. Where is it?

Hi all I got it running yesterday & I now have a few issues. My rev counter is not working I have an orange light on the dash which looks like a spray jet and it is revving a little high. Any help would be appreciated.

Right I got it running on friday morning & now it won't start. Now due to me having lots of metal flying around inside the bell housing it had smashed my crank sensor. Now I did replace this but I think I may have pushed it in too much as when it ran it took the end of it off. How far in should...

Hi I got hold of a Gearbox, T/C, Flexplate, Driveplate & Crank Sensor for £440 from Emmotts @ Colne. Going to fit it tomorrow what is the best way of filling the gearbox up? I presume there is a sequence to follow.

Yes everything looks ok. I have ordered new bolts as the nut heads have been caught with the metal flying round the box and also the crank seal could have been caught as this leaking so it will be changed whilst I'm in there. Thanks for everyone's help just glad I've found what has gone faulty.

So would you refit the box & torque converter? I can't believe that all of that plate on the photo has been ripped off. So I need to find a new/second hand flywheel.
