    whirring noise when accelerating + loss of power

    Hi all, got a problem with my 02 reg TD4 - it just started happening today all of a sudden. when i accelerate there is a loud whirring noise which seems to be coming from the engine, it seems to start when i get to 2500 rpm. There is also a loss of power, it feels sluggish I'm a complete noob...
