howdy when i start the engine the tappets are very very loud but get quieter once the engine has warmed up........and it is getting worse. i thought they were hydraulic and should be quiet? any ideas please? ps. it's a Freelander xplate 1.8 with 70k

howdy. i have a 2000 freelander 1.8 when i change in to 2nd gear i get a knocking or a thumping noise from the rear. could it be the IRD or the propshaft. to be honest with you i dont know what is what so any help would be very grateful. thanks
