I have a few holes and loose outriggers on my 1980 chassis and am contemplating patching them up using an old arc welder that I have in my loft. Is this a good idea, or do you think it might be a bit fierce for the job? I don't want to make the holes any bigger!

I've got a hole in the floor of the passenger footwell about the size of a 2 pence piece. Will this be an MOT failure point? If it is, can I cover it up with a bolt and a couple of big washers?
