P38A 2.5 D aircon issue -> no code in EAS unlock, but get the service book

I've had mine on and off alone quite a few times. Tricky part getting it back on is getting the sides to slot back into place. Mine is just black plastic coated and not colour coded though. Don't know if yours is any more fragile but mine's pretty robust.

P38A Moving a logic board from lowline to highline BECM

Marty showed me but I cannot remember that far back. He doesn't come on here anymore. Not sure if he still visits RR.net. He may well still go on here: https://rangerovers.pub/

What did you do with your Range Rover today

They probably have an attachment on their lift to fit there. Always handy having some good wooden blocks to spread the load and use as spacers.

P38A Moving a logic board from lowline to highline BECM

Fogs not on powerboard on Lowline BECM but iirc the holes are there on the board so if you know what you are doing you could add the components. Or just setup a relay for the switch but the switch just signals the BECM and that controls the fogs - pretty sure it resets them to off when the...

That could well be a pulley not quite square from a failing bearing or similar.

    P38 gearbox inquiry

No power and black smoke sounds like turbo pipe has come off or collapsing or intercooler blocked.

Often had the bumper off on my own. Undo the clips at either side, undo the two bolts, push down in the centre to disengage it and then pull it towards you and it just slides out. Get ready at the end as it comes free and the ends drop towards the floor.

P38A Moving a logic board from lowline to highline BECM

Quite possibly! From memory I think the logic board holds all the information required though. The powerboard is just relays and mosfets and whatever.

    Power issues

The MAP pipe is still connected? Someone on here had issues with aftermarket MAF sensors, admittedly the petrol rather than the diesel.

Tensioner pulleys can let go, especially if someone in the past has been heavy-handed easing the tension off.

Pretty sure my Lemforder one is removable both ends.

They're all on the logic board aren't they? I don't recall any issues.

I did try switching the AC off but it didn't do it. Of course, that might mean something but given it is intermittent it is rather hard to say for sure. Been busy all weekend and got stuff to do today as well so it will have to wait another week.

What do you like and dislike the most about P38s?

Pretty much the same as you. Pros. 1) For the price it is a hell of a lot of car, especially if you have a scrapper for parts and a backup car (our backup is now Honda Jazz!). 2) I can use it for work and it takes a ton of wood with no issues or can tow all day. 3) Can use it all day without...

    P38A Is this the end?

I was hoping my nephew would take it, although a bloke in the pub was asking after the third one last night. I can give it up anytime I like ...

P38A Moving a logic board from lowline to highline BECM

I did that. For some reason the fogs didn't work but I think it was a connector issue because I then put the logic boards back and Marty was kind enough to clone the Highline from my Lowline and we still had sone issues. Cannot remember what it was but Marty spotted it and fixed it. In theory...

Maybe he took the Rangie and is still fixing it? @MrGorsky had Clarion service his a few years ago but I am not sure they still do it.

It does sound like the adjuster pulley bearing going. Mark says when it goes it stays gone. This doesn't. Once gone you have no idea where the noise is coming from. The alternator does sound a little noisy with the screwdriver to the head technique.

Don't think so. I replaced that about 60k miles ago and dumping the clutch made no difference. That would have taken any load off it.
