    Fitting Britpart Cellular Dynamic Shocks

Do you have a vice? If so, squish the bushes in the vice for a bit and they'll go straight on. Other options are to use a different bush, or you could cut the bushes down, but obviously cutting them down gives less bush, so may wear sooner. The ones supplied will go on and work.

Freelander 1 Extended brake lines for lift kits??

Disagree, it is not dramatic, it is a bit of tin. It really is odd they made the hole so small in the first place. And while it is unibody construction, I'm not sure you could call that bit a stressed member of the chassis. Your solution I would think would introduce more bump steer, which...

May be a first time rover owner! Need advice :)

To be fair, prices are silly even in the UK, just having a quick look on ebay and there are plenty in the £30-40k range.... which is nuts. Op - for reference in the UK you could get a much much newer model for way less money: About $18,000 USD. The trouble is, because the USA has a 25 year...

May be a first time rover owner! Need advice :)

Defenders are silly money in the USA. It isn't for me to say you shouldn't, it is your money. But in reality they probably aren't worth the money. When new they were a fairly cheap, very utility work truck. Prices have gone silly in the UK too, and frankly they aren't worth what people want for...

Range Rover Classic - 16" Tyre Sizing.

Is that a 6 wheel conversion? If so, I have no idea of clearances at the back, you'll have to just try and see and take measurements. I would say 285/75 is massive and way too big for an otherwise stock RRC. A 235/85 is likely to rub. Hence why the Camel ones ran the narrow 7.00 x 16, as it...

Range Rover Classic - 16" Tyre Sizing.

Did you take that photo in the 70s? As for tyre. What’s wrong with running stock sizes? Camel Trophy ones ran 7.00 x 16 and lots of people doing trials would have run 7.50 x 16 or even 235/85 but may need a bit of body massaging. Rim off set will also have a big impact. Would think a...

Disco 1 300tdi lost all power while driving

Low oil can cause longer term wear issues, but wouldn't normally cause an engine to splutter and cut out. I think it sounds like an air leak somewhere, which is when air gets into the fuel line by a worn/cracked pipe or loose fitting. If you start the engine (bonnet up), let it run for a min...

    Freelander 2 i6

Not completely related to the topic, but here was a bit of a fun race we had earlier in the year. There is a silver i6 FL2 in the race.

    Freelander 2 i6

Either some good AT tyres, such as 3 peak rated ones or if snow/ice is more a concern, some dedicated winter tyres. The FL2 should be very good the snow.

    Freelander 2 i6

Doubtful, not seen many mods like this for other LR models either. Lift kit is just spacers above the struts, so doesn't impact travel or ride and easy to reverse/remove. Off road they lack ground clearance, but are able to keep the wheels spinning thanks to the traction control, so generally...

Diso1 Diff lock how it works

Point? Well a p38 will never "lock" by its very name a viscous coupling is a limited slip diff, so can not offer the same constant 50:50 power split a locked LT230 does. The power split will vary always allowing the front and rear props to rotate at different speeds. This has advantages that...

Diso1 Diff lock how it works

Personally I think ATB's take a lot of beating on UK terrain, where they aren't so good is if you have a wheel in the air, although left foot braking will help. So if you do Moab style rock crawling, full lockers can be a good option. As they will turn all 4 wheels equally and require no slip at...

Diso1 Diff lock how it works

This is an incorrect assumption. Lots of info online on how diffs work, probably worth your time searching and understanding how they function. Lots of practical examples on YouTube too. However the centre diff allows full time 4wd, so when traction is equal you will get power to all 4 wheels...

Diso1 Diff lock how it works

P38 has no centre locking diff, it is a viscous unit, so never fully locks. Most p38's have either 2 wheel or 4 wheel traction control, so they should behave quite differently, as will an L322.

    Defender 90 suspension height

Standard to what though? Lots of springs fitted over the years and different body/engine configs will impact ride height. Shocks generally don't impact ride height, although Gas shocks (ones that extend on their own) will have a slight upwards pressure and make a vehicle sit slightly higher...

    200 Di vs 2.5 D na

Di conversion is the most pointless swap ever IMO. It is just a lazy mans conversion as it requires almost no effort to keep the Turbo. Direct Injection is less refined than indirect. A 2.5NAD should make 67hp. We also know a turbocharged NAD aka 19j makes 89bhp. Meaning as a minimum a non...

    Tax Exempt, modifications question

You do make a declaration, either online or by signing a bit of paper. You do this each year for the MoT exemption as part of the Road Tax process. You are also signing to say the vehicle is of the correct classification, aka Historic status. Maybe be a little more observant next time you do...
