I will say I am impressed with the overall condition for such an old car , its the only major rust I've found. Excluding the rear wheel arch where it meets the liner has started bubbling. Apart from that its solid.

I guess it doesn't matter how it's done as long as it welds.

I have bits coming off in my hand So, for the sake of doing things properly and id like to try and learn welding. Il attempt to get a hold of some 1.2 mm then. Cheers

There seems to be a piece of metal behind that hole that's now loose and when I went under the car it looks like it sits between the exhaust t piece and the boot floor. Possible heat shield? Idk. If I was to go down the welder route , do you know what thickness metal it would be ?

Hi everyone I was tidying my boot out and found the site below Does anyone know What thickness of metal the floor is made from? And is the floor made of steel? These images are not the bottom of the floor but the sides so they aren't draining bungs. I am brand new to welding so be kind...

Yes almost instantly I get good idle, I am able to raise and lower the car.

Got a new cable , didn't even need to install new drivers. Worked a charm

I've ordered a new serial adaptor A dedicated FTDI with the driver on a disk , so if this doesn't work then Ive got issues with the car.

it's an old car , the old software an laptops just seem to work better. I presume that laptop would have a dedicated coms port ?

It's still not having it, I've decided to order a proper FTDI usb adaptor with FTDI driver on a disk. I swapped my usb adaptor to a prolific one and got a string of 28s and 80s rather than the pp. So I believe it to be the adapter.

I cannot for the life of Me , delete the driver , everything I've done it just bounces back auto update is turned off so I'm not entirely sure what I've done wrong. Sorry to be a pain , but could someone give me a dummy's guide to deleting the drivers. Thanks

Right I understand, hopefully this works. The cable was an eBay cable with adaptor £17 or so came with a free dvd copy of rave which is a bonus.
