So a question for purchase of second hand vehicle with DPF.... can you tell it has been on short runs ? Would proper decent runs reverse any short run damage.. I guess the mileage would tell a lot.

Aye, totally this is why I had so much interest as if I had to replace the Defender it would likely with a Disco 4 and the whole DPF is new to me. This is what the forum is about healthy debate and challenges. Quite happy if the OP turns out to be wrong but nice to hear all sides.

I would have said 8k minimum tbh. What does "all the gear" mean ? Its low mileage and maintained. You could take all the gear off flog it fix it and still have an 8k landrover.

If you get a decent sized nut and just fill it with weld you shouldnt have an issue, the heat alone will probably do half the job. I have had em welded on at a cack angle and its still came loose.

I would take care with using acetone due to the rubber boot below it.
