    Identifying my swivel house

So the whole drive train as noted in first post is not all Disco. Recon you just need the repair kit for axle of your year and fit new Railko bush and seal. You also need to set the swivel pre load for it to work right. How to info on the Youtube.

    Identifying my swivel house

What year is yours? My 1990 Ninety doe's not have any numbers on it. Looking at your pic can not be 100% but recon your axle is a Ninety unit. If you remove the top swivel and find it fits into a Railko bush then that confirms. Have a look at Ninety and Disco one top pins they are quite different.

Thoughts on my potential first Landy (90)

It is not an 89 truck. Many features mark it as noted above as a 300tdi. If Vin and V5 say so very likely it's a ringer.

    Identifying my swivel house

Sooo Do you know for sure you have Disco front axle? I would not go on the retaining rig as one never knows what has been done in the past. Swivel ball looks pretty good so thinking that something to do with the setup and or seal is wrong given the amount of oil/grease coming out. If you...

    BULKHEAD

For a 65ish year old bulkhead that is not at all bad. Door pillars have been done before as those are series 3 type. Better because they have clips for the wing bolts not captive [ usually for ever ]nuts, different but can not be seen once the wing is on. They can be replaced again. Foot well...

    What's this Landy worth?

When it comes to value of older landy's a lot depends on the condition of the chassis and bulkhead, at least it does to those who know them. I presume IOM has MOT's ? Can history be checked?

Given you had the wrong pins then the pads may well be wrong as well.

    Defender D300 (2023 - L663) - Reverse Shudder

Hi John, Probably not the best place to ask here as we are mostly owners of the original Defender and previous models on this forum. JLR should have given the D300 another name as it has very little in common the old model and having the same name causes confusion. Cheers from another John.

series 3 swivels - is it possible to refurbish swivels, Pt No. 539741

Bearings and bush's yes. Chrome repair another matter although minor pitting by filling with an epoxy resin and will last if done right. [well prepared clean surface.]

    Coolant Loss on 300TDI engine

Water level sensor is a good mod. Head Gasket leaks usually result in pressure in the cooling system but can go other ways

    110 Steering Woes

Do see no reason why disc has to be removed. I learned how to do it using what was had at the time. A Land Rover Book manual and a spring scale of the fishing type.

    110 Steering Woes

If swivel pre load is out then thars your problem. Note that the 3-4 kg pull recommended above is with the large ball housing seal removed. It is just a trial and error job swapping shims until set right. Each time the pin bolts have to be done up tight. I bend the brake pipe bracket out the...

    Need electrical help

See the black arrow head symbols in @Dorset_dumpling's diagram above ? They are the earth points and will be on the body, chassis or engine near the item they are earthing.

    Coolant Loss on 300TDI engine

The leak to the exhaust is likely only to get worse over time. As a short term repair [ months] you could put in some rad sealant, like Kseal [other makes available] Advertised as permanent repair but in my experience that is not so and will give up eventually. Be careful as 300's are not...

    Coolant Loss on 300TDI engine

    Coolant Loss on 300TDI engine

The exhaust port seep could be just a tracking leak from a waterway through the head gasket to exhaust port but the only way to know is head off. Can see other core plugs have been renewed and the heater transfer pipe has been replaced with copper tube. All sign's that engine has spent time...
