Gearbox or engine out to take off the clutch plate to swap the seal over. Might as well change the clutch whilst you are in there. G

Help desperately needed with 90 wiring

Seen a handbrake cable do the same sort of thing. As said, you need decent earth cables from the bulkhead to the chassis, engine to chassis, gearbox to chassis and then all back to the negative terminal on the battery. G

    Earth strap D1 300tdi 1997 location

As has been said there has to be one from the negative terminal on the battery back to the chassis at least, this is the only way to complete the circuit. There should also be additional cables running from the engine, bodywork and gearbox to the chassis to help things. You can easily install...

Making your own Anderson connected jump leads - what amps?

I had a set of decent jump leads made from welding wire. I split them and put Anderson connectors towards one end to rejoin them. This gives me the flexibility to use the Anderson connector on the seatbox or to use them as normal leads. It is a bit of a foof to fit the Anderson connector to the...

    Electrics gone weird!

I don't have a pic but the earth on my 90 is made by a bolt and nut setup on the top if the wheel arch. The earths in general are created by being connected to the bodywork which is connected to the chassis and therefore the battery. You can easily create a common earth by putting in a bolt with...

    Clutch change

Check the crankshaft seal on the back of the block whilst you are in there. If it looks suss it is easier to change it now than have to go back through the whole exercise later. G

    Hand Brake Not working...

At the bottom bracket there are two nuts, one either side. You need to adjust those so that the amount of threaded sleeve running through the bracket changes. Once done you should be able to use the adjuster on the back of the drum for tweaking. But getting to the nuts is a pain and cong out...

vibration and clunking after leaf spring change

When you fitted the springs did you tighten them right up straight away? You are meant to leave the shackles loose and then load up/ move the vehicle slightly to allow the springs to settle. My only other thought is if the angle of the diff has been rotated too far down thereby affecting how...

    Chassis swap snags

Have you got all the earth straps correctly fitted? There should be one from the battery to the chassis then others from the engine and gearbox the the chassis. I also have one from the bulkhead to the chassis G

vibration and clunking after leaf spring change

I fitted a set to a Series 1 I had and there weren't any issues. It may be that lifting the body of the vehicle with the new springs has altered the angle of the prop. If you take the prop off at one end you will be able to check the UJs to see I they move freely. G

    Brake caliper problems...

You may find you will get the pistons right back it you work them in and out a fee times. I use a big flat screwdriver or a small pry bar to lever them back in, and always remember to have something between the piston and disc when pressing the brake pedal. I didn't do that one time and it was a...
