Have you checked the steering angle sensor, ABS module main connector for water ingress, wheel sensors etc which are all contributing factors which need to be all working in harmony for a fully operational EAS, personally I think you a wasting time money and effort putting coils on, a defeatist...

Got back to the UK, opened the garage re-connected the battery twice in the heater plugs and she fired into life first time after being laid up for six months! Re- set windows let the EAS sort itself out, took for MOT passed with no advisories, happy bunny!

You can get to it without removing bumper I think, if it has a towbar then it is a bit tight

+1 especially if it has a tow bar, IIRC one of mine had same issue, multi plug from senor loom to main loom behind bumper O/S/R corroded (mine are LHD but should be the same place)

Years ago you could get a straight connector made with solder inside and a heat shrink outer, fit over the stripped clean copper wire and heat with a fag lighter, solder melted just before the heat shrink so made the joint and sealed the cable in a few seconds, used them on plant trailers worked...

Had a similar one, HDC blah blah, turned out to be steering angle sensor, get it on diagnostics, but fix the fluid leak first you never know!

Never done the rears but done the fronts on a couple so should not be too dissimilar, on the front, decent bushes have a small arrow moulded in on the ones which need orientation to align with corresponding point on housing (**** part don't have it) there is also a method to torque up the bolts...

Thread resurrection and update, finally solved all issues, fitted S/H column so telescopic now working and new SAS (BMW X 5 as cheaper) reprogrammed and all good. Opened up the old SAS and one of the four contacts was worn/damaged so assume sending odd signals on a make and break contact basis.

Anyone know how to find out who was the last insurance company a car was insured with? Long story short, wife sorted insurances out, car on a SORN and she has forgot who was insured with, car now sold and trying to get full No claims for my RR, we are only in the UK four weeks of the year so...

I am sure there is some sort of valve incorporated in the tee piece in blue pipe just upside the compressor that has caused problem from what I can remember from previous posts by someone on here, maybe worth checking?
