You could also check your battery and alternator output, had similar on a 08 V8 petrol, think new alternator and battery sorted it, but didn't have the fuel pressure codes HTH.

+1 need coding to car, inside there are 4 rotary leaf type connectors on mine one had worn away giving same symptoms, check prices from BMW, X5 uses the same part.

If it has touchscreen I think it should have Bluetooth, try a Bluetooth search with your phone this will tell you if it can detect the cars signal, generic LR pairing code is 2121 I think (it is in my part of the world)

Forgot to say so Yep gas guzzler, no diesels here with petrol at 15p a litre, tho diesel has just had a price increase to 24p a litre so still cheap!
