In your post you said the alternator belt was not turning. As the belt goes around the alternator pulley and is driven by the crank pulley, is the crank pulley rotating as it should. Is so then it could be either the belt had broke or maybe the tensioner has failed. So may not be the alternator...

Sounds like it is not charging, so yes a alternator issue. When you say the belt is not turning do you mean the bottom pulley is going round and the belt is slipping.

With your vin number it will have a sensor as late 2003 models had them fitted yours is 3A289 and the last of the non sensors were 3A279833

The air sensor were fitted on a late 2003, onwards so wonder if the pipe has been replaced with the wrong one at some point this is the one with out sensor Turbocharge Intercooler To Inlet Manifold Hose Freelander TD4 2001 To 2003 End At Vin 3 A279833 so have a look at your vin number.

I stand corrected about the sensor in the turbo pipes thought they had changed the position of the MAP due to the issue with them clogging up .

From late 2003 the MAP went into turbo hoses, prior to that located in inlet manifold as previous post, hope this clears up location issue.
