Any one rcomend a good ariel and where to put it

A cb anntenna will receive some signal, but its not ideal. The lengths of a whip anntenna are a specific length that is matched to the wavelength of the middle frequency of the band it's designed to receive. A full length whip for the FM band is about 0.8meters I think (I'm sure Wikipedia will...

    Electrical Issue

Id expect the lights to work without ign. But not some of the other stuff. Especially not the heater. Sounds like something is wired incorrectly. You're gonna have to start pulling fuses I think (there have been many threads on how to do these checks). Also, put your rough location in your...

    throttle cable sticking

No idea, but have you tried spraying some lube down the cable also? I'm sure you can get special cable lube. Failing that, wd40 might do.

Too long on an axle stand....?

What the others say makes sense. But regardless of that, if your first thoughts were that having it sit on a axle stand has somehow bent the axle, that just doesn't stand to reason. If your axle casing was so badly rotten that that was even possible, it would have bent or more liked broke on...

    radio electric help?

My 1994 defender had an iso connector as standard. I'd be surprised if yours didn't. It looks like yours has been changed at some point. A 6 pin connector, that can only be live, earth and two pair of speaker wires. I doubt you'd get any adapter from halfords that will help you. Just use the...

    Advise needed asap

I don't know anything about rangies or gem engines, but it sounds like you need to take it to a mechanic that knows that engine. I think more info is needed about your legal position. How long has he had the motor? When he took it to the garage, did he tell them the heads "have gone" and...

    90 hardtop commercial

Welcome to landyzone. Sounds like you've only spoken to one company there. I'd say shop around. Is it going to be your only vehicle or a second (toy) vehicle? Did you tell them you want to do commercial mileage in it? If not, try Lancaster or someone like that. I'm pretty sure there is an...

    16mm split conduit?

These people seem to do it by the meter for less than a couple of quid posted. BLACK SPIRAL CONDUIT TUBE CABLE TIES / TIDY 6.5MM / 10 MM OR 16MM PER METRE | eBay

6 week old baby in 110 / longer seat belts

We used a maxi cosy one also, but in the passenger seat in the d90, with the missus sitting in the centre seat. It was the only way we could do it. Baby seat ideally needs to be facing backward at that age. It couldn't go in the centre because it needed a three point seatbelt, and even if I'd...

    12v or 24v

Agree with bump. That's the only way I can think of doing it. Unless there's a part number somewhere that enables you to identify it.

    12v or 24v

No I didn't mean that. An alternator i sbasically a coil and a magnet, one of them spinning to produce an AC voltage. The voltage regulator inside the back of a normal alternator does two things. Firstly you've got a full wave rectifier (bunch of diodes) to turn the AC output to DC. But...

    12v or 24v

No it's not that. When you're jump starting it, you get a big load of current draw for a short period of time. The wires might warm up (probably not yours as 70mm2 is bloody big) but will cool down once the starter stops drawing current. You're talking about drawing a huge current...

Is there a part number on it anywhere?

    12v or 24v

I think the lorries wire them in banks of two in series. Hopefully a lorry driver will be along soon to confirm or deny

Quite possibly boil. Good chance your wires will also.

    snorkel connection

That is actually a water outlet. As standard, your defenders inlet is on the side of the wing. Water can easily get in there, so this y trap is there to let the water back out. The mesh is supposed to work as a kinda one way type of arrangement. But as you say, probably wouldn't stand up to...

    Is this legal?

If it were me, I think I'd keep it as is. I only say it probably is illegal, because thats the way the law reads to me. The statute doesn't specifically say that bolted on accessories must be fitted in such a way that those regulations aren't ever so slightly infringed from a funny angle...

    Td5 electrics poggle me

Certainly sounds like an earth is missing somewhere. I dont have a wiring diagram for your vehicle so can't suggest where to start looking. It does sound like your lights/brake lights are back feeding your fuel cut off valve

    Is this legal?

I'd say that was legal. As long as its mounted vertically (or as close to vertical as possible), the law appears to be silent on exactly where on the vehicle it should be mounted. So you can have it as high or low as practicality will allow.

    Is this legal?

This shouldn't be a surprise. It's part of any driving test:p
