I had heard of people getting these types of snorkels ripped off but I've not had a problem even through some recent lanes where I was basically driving through bushes ;) Everyone does things differently but it works for me so I'm happy :D

Great advice from everyone so far and the only thing I¨d add is to also drill out the banjo bolt on top of the fuel filter to 1mm. This made my old TD engine go from awful starter to 1st time every time with 2 minutes simple work :) That was before the engine went pop a few months after anyway...

Just to close this off and for other peoples reference in future... Yep the 200TDi exhaust fitted fine :) With either system you'll need to add a connection from the conversion downpipe anyway so I added "proper" bolt on connections via a flexipipe to handle any rough movements while off...

Agreed - buy a MOT failure Disco with a decent engine and transplant into Defender. If you've time then break it and make a decent profit, if not (as I didn't!) then you'll still sell it for good money and keep the conversion costs right down :) Here's how I did it btw...

I had exactly the same problem when I came to fit my Snorkel to my 1989 90 TD. As I discovered later on when removing the engine (now 200TDi power) it had a replacement wing on it at some point (different colour inside when radiator was removed) without a vent :( Anyway, it is more hassle but...

My old exhaust was on it's last legs anyway but on my last green laning trip it managed to snap it off just behind the middle box :doh: There's also a hole in the rear silencer too so the lot just needs replacing. Someone had said to fit a 90 200TDi system so that's what I ordered from Paddocks...
