    Self service but keep FSH

Avoid Britpart like the plague. For the few people on here who "recommend" them there are many more like myself who don't. I try to go for reasonable branded names & a few I've fitted are Mintex pads, Lucas Discs, Lockheed Delphi droplinks, Quinton Hazell brake shoes & I used FAI wishbones which...

    Oil Change TD4

Kwik-Fit could do Mobil 1 with an original Landrover filter for £10 & I still wouldn't use them. Personal experience with them many years ago I'm afraid.

    Self service but keep FSH

Buy yourself a stamp either off ebay or the like, but it's totally dishonest. Why not just write in the mileage & date of each service & keep a log of everything you've done along with receipts & use quality parts & oil, it'll be worthwhile. Another option is to do all the major servicing...

    Handbrake sticking on....

There are three raised dimpled pads pressed out on the backplate where each shoe sits against. These rust & cause the shoes to stick particularly on the days when it's raining. Only cure is to strip the shoes out, clean off the rust & apply a thin smear of copperease to each pad area. The other...

    synergy 2

I've got the older synergy 1 which if memory serves me is set to position number 6. My gearbox is also jerkier & not as smooth at gear changes with the synergy & as I said earlier it hangs on to the higher gears for longer being less reluctant to change down but to be fair Roverron did say this...

Is it worth a punt?! - 2000 V6 with Cyclinder head gasket fail

You mean heads as it would be a false economy just to do one of them

    Synergy setting

I'm running on setting 6 with mine but it's a synergy 1 & I believe the synergy 2 is different. It will come with instructions but the best thing to do is to run it at Rons maximum recommended setting for the auto. Problem is that the absolute maximum setting on the synergy produces more torque...

Is it worth a punt?! - 2000 V6 with Cyclinder head gasket fail

Yes, it's worth buying at that price to either sell on for a profit or break for spares.

    synergy 2

I don't really understand what you mean by gears jump from standstill. I've got the older synergy 1 box & have never had any trouble with it. It does tend to hang on to the higher gears for longer especially sometimes going up a hill but a quick prod of the go pedal soon encourages it to shift...

    Trailing arm rubber bush

A quick look at Powerflex's webpage lists two trailing arm bushes, one going to the hub & one to the chassis. You'll need to find out which one of yours has failed. Powerflex Also if fitting yourself, polybushes are generally much easier to fit once you've got your old bush out but you'd...

    Road Tax

Yeah, but how much more did your insurance end up costing you.

    Road Tax

Let's say they did what you suggest & ramp up fuel prices by a generous (for them) amount to compensate. What happens when another administration comes to power a few years down the line & decides it'd be a damn good idea to reintroduce road tax "forgetting" of course to lower fuel prices back down.

Breather upgrade definitely & you'll need a 36mm socket for the oil filter housing.

    New tyre fitted/steering wheel wrong

Hi Hippo, sorry but I've not been on for a couple of days. As you say, it only does basic tracking for the front wheels. I suppose you could use it to take a basic measure at the rear but it only gives an overall reading of toe-in or toe-out (in degrees & minutes) & with the rears you'd want to...
